It is indeed a sad day in metal today, Den Headz. Long running Birmingham, England metal act, JUDAS PRIEST, have announced that legendary guitarist K.K. Downing has retired from the lineup effective immediately.
The 59-year-old guitar player served with the group since since it was founded forty two years ago. This past December, Priest announced that the Epitaph World Tour would be their farewell to the fans, allowing them a chance to see their metal icons live one more time. The tour is slated to run through 2012.
31 year-old British guitar player Richie Faulkner (Lauren Harris band) is said to be replacing Downing for the final Priest gigs.
