Bassist and lead vocalist Jeff Paulick comments; “First off, I have to say we are incredibly proud of Black Rivers Flow. It’s been three and a half years since we recorded our last album and we’ve grown a lot since then. During the writing process for Black Rivers Flow we were dealing with great personal tragedies. We found a way to draw strength from those tragedies and use it as inspiration to write what we feel is an incredibly more sound record than the last. On Black Rivers Flow, everyone stepped up their game; the riffs are heavier, the choruses catchier, and the vocals have improved and been diversified tenfold. We are on a mission to show the world that we are a force to be reckoned with and aren’t thinking about a trend, we’re thinking long term. I think our fans will hear these songs and be blown away. The energy and power this time around is undeniable, and we hope the reaction amongst the community reflects just that.”

Here’s what critics had to say of the band’s Metal Blade debut, The Onslaught:

“The thrash revival seems to have spawned two types of bands – retro sound-alikes and those who are looking to make the genre relevant now. Lazarus A.D. are one of the latter…”Revolver Magazine

“straightforward…engaging…Kill ‘Em All style climax.” Decibel Magazine

“Get ready for some friggin ridiculous thrash from Wisconsin! Not bay area thrash, think Master of Puppets era Metallica thrash” Hails & Horns Magazine

“…the way it combines rapid-fire riffage, abrupt rhythm changes and cutting guitar harmonies within double bass drumming is worthy of praise.” Guitar World from ‘The Next Metallica?’ article

“These guys are the real deal…they sound like a hungrier Lamb of God.” The Daily News Mckeesport

“They’ve already put themselves at the forefront of the movement because ‘The Onslaught’ absolutely shreds anything released by most of their neo-thrash brethren.” The Monroe News Star

“We are in the midst of a new modern force in heavy metal music.” Randy “Rocket” Cody, The Metal Den

“Every song on here is a potential future classic…but more impressive is the extraordinary musicianship on display.” Fangoria.com

“This one hits so hard it hurts…it’s meaner than a hungry pit bull with rabies…In two words, damn good.” Blabbermouth.net

“The album opens with one of the most heart-palpitating tunes to ever hit plastic (Last Breath) and continues create music once thought only possible through bands like KREATOR, EXODUS, and very, very old-school METALLICA delivered with way more precision of a foreign entity such as CHILDREN OF BODOM.” 10/10 away-team.com

“As soon as I heard the first thirty seconds, I was sold on Lazarus A.D.” PureGrainAudio.com

“…definitely one of this year’s early highlights.” Blistering.com

“…fast and furious and all out work of thrash metal genius.” ThrashMag.com

“…crisp solos that force me to use adjectives like ‘mega awesome’ to describe them, I’d swear they had taken a 300-level course in tasteful thrash-metal riffing.” MetalBuzz.net

“The Onslaught is like an old Exodus or Metallica album, as played by As I Lay Dying…This is serious metal for serious metal fans.” Live-Metal.net

“…the kind of pure thrash that gets heads banging and beer pouring.” AboutMag.com
