After a very successful run on this summer’s Ozzfest, New Orleans, Louisiana’s sons of American no-frills black metal meets death and roll GOATWHORE will be once again hitting the road in support of their current album CARVING OUT THE EYES OF GOD, which came out in June 2009. Starting on September 22 in Raleigh, NC at Volume 11, GOATWHORE will be joining label mates The Absence for 6 dates and will head straight into the start of The Black Dahlia Murder tour that kicks off on September 28 in Columbus OH at Skully’s. Shortly after the tour alongside fellow label mates The Black Dahlia Murder, GOATWHORE will be ending a very successful year of touring by joining Watain and Black Anvil for a tour that takes the band across the US throughout the month of November. Shortly after GOATWHORE finishes up their run with Watain and Black Anvil, the band will be entering the studio to begin recording their 5th full-length album, and 3rd for Metal Blade Records. More details on the studio and the new material will be made available over the coming months on Metal Blade’s and GOATWHORE’s sites.

“Just when one tour comes to an end another few step into place. We have, as always, put an extreme effort on touring for each release we put out. Our most current release, CARVING OUT THE EYES OF GOD, is no exception and has brought us on many great touring adventures. Just returning home from Ozzfest 2010 we find ourselves locking in the rest of the year with two excellent tours. First, alongside our good friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, then a final end of the year outing with the black art of Watain. The Ozzfest experience was a great thing to be a part of. Playing and hanging with good friends and the bonus of watching some legendary musicians that have influenced us from our earlier metal years. We are looking forward to finishing up the year and getting things rolling for the next release. Hope to see everyone on the road in the next couple of months” comments vocalist Ben Falgoust.

Drummer Zack Simmons adds; “This has been a great time touring for this record. We’ve been very fortunate to been included on a lot of good tours. It was an honor to be included on Ozzfest once again. We are very confident and determined to deliver another killer record and tour our asses off again, as we always do! Stay fuck!!! Stay thirsty, my friends! P.S. Be careful where you store your sewing needles. You never know what can happen…”

“Their most varied record to date. Songs sear with an old-school, punk propelled urgency that comes from years of Motörhead, Venom, and Hellhammer worship.” 4/5 Revolver Magazine

“the band’s tightest, most guitar-driven offering to date. An unholy smorgasbord of rigid tempo shifts, gargantuan hooks, blasting black mass anthems and Falgoust’s soot and venom snarl… ” Decibel Magazine

“Like a modern day, roid injected sword fight between Celtic Frost and Venom…a must have for anyone who has every raised a set of horns…some of the purest metal that 2009 will bear witness to.” Outburn Magazine

“This is the catchiest album Goatwhore have ever released.” MetalSucks.net

“Guitarist Sammy Duet (Ex-ACID BATH) is at his best on the title track “Carving Out The Eyes Of God”, which sounds like he’s playing a buzz saw during the process of removing one’s head.”
– Rocket, THE METAL DEN

“Carving Out The Eyes Of God is one of our top-3 releases of 2009. Hands down.” TheGauntlet.com

“GOATWHORE have gone above expectations this time around…destined to be their version of The Blackening by MACHINE HEAD for their genre as they have perfected their art and this album will turn up in many ‘Best Of’ lists for 2009!” perfect 10/10, SMNnews.com

“The 10 tracks could make even the most stubborn Nordic black metal fans squirm, as the stabbing and slashing guitars and Ben Falgoust’s dark sermon growling never have sounded better.” The Daily News McKeesport

“…one of 2009’s purest metal albums, one that could very well end up to be considered the quartet’s watershed release…nefariously black and sadistically thrashing in a way that is uniquely GOATWHORE.” Blabbermouth.net

“Ben Falgoust, one of the best live and recorded singers in metal history.” Hellbound.ca

About the band:
Emerging from the swamplands of New Orleans, Louisiana — a city rich with urban legends of voodoo curses, ghosts and murder — Goatwhore was formed in 1997 by guitarist Sammy Duet (Acid Bath, Crowbar, Ritual Killer etc.). Their history is a winding one marked by lineup shifts, temporary paralysis, haunted studios, and the survival of one of the five most destructive hurricanes in US history. Influenced by the raw savagery of bands like Venom and Celtic Frost, their unrefined, fuck-all approach to black metal first revealed on the Serenades To The Tides Of Blood demo and expanded upon on the now legendary Eclipse Of Ages Into Black debut nearly a decade ago earned the band instant underground credibility.

In an oversaturated metal landscape where sub-genres spawn sub-sub-genres and the very definition of “metal” seems blurred by cross-pollinating madness, sacred are the bands who stay true to their roots. Goatwhore spew the sort of sinister, fist-clenching, speaker-searing sound that made metal so forbiddingly enticing in the first place. The year of the ‘Whore is truly upon us! Carving out the Eyes of God was released June 23rd, 2009.

GOATWHORE is:
