TMD unearths an extremely rare live audience recording of legendary metal act PANTERA in Dallas, Texas on July 2, 1988. The track is “Hard Ride” and it is one of the earliest shows with vocalist Philip H. Anselmo known to exist. If you listen closely at the end of the song the band wishes Philip “Happy Birthday”, because they were celebrating the vocalist’s birthday – which is of course on June 30 – ‘all weekend long’. Anselmo adds that he’s “Going backstage to get himself a marijuana cocktail”. It’s totally classic.
