Den Headz, it was a historic night for heavy metal this past Saturday, May 8 at Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth, Texas. Legendary PANTERA/DOWN vocalist Philip H. Anselmo made a rare public appearance to celebrate the release of the debut album “Krush The Enemy” from Texas natives WARBEAST (Housecore Records).
PANTERA – by many considered to be the greatest metal act of them all – made their name on the DFW music scene back in the 80’s and 90’s playing Fort Worth spots like the infamous Joe’s Garage.
Anselmo had reportedly not set foot in Fort Worth since the tragic death of late PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott on December 8, 2004… until this incredible moment. Some fans are still angry at the controversial vocalist for his breakup with Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul… and others actually believe that heated words Anselmo said toward Dime in an interview prior to the guitarist being shot on stage in Ohio – by a crazy fan – had something to do with it.
Obviously very humbled, Philip shared some spirited words with the audience from the stage before joining WARBEAST in a song:
“Thank you for having me back!”
