UPDATE: Bret Michaels

Den Headz, a ton of reports continue to circulate as to what exactly happened to POISON’s vocalist, Bret Michaels – to lead to the point he’s at now: in ICU battling for his life. It’s being widely reported that doctors aren’t exactly sure what’s caused the bleeding at the base of Bret’s brain, but the overwhelming speculation is that the singer may have indeed suffered a brain aneurysm, one version of a stroke.

An aneurysm is a soft spot in a blood vessel that could burst if the pressure becomes too significant or if there is some sort of blow to that general area. Blow to the head… hmmm… didn’t Bret take one hard to the skull when he was struck by a falling set piece at the 2009 Tony awards?

Think about it… the type I diabetes Bret has had since he was six could have very well weakened a brain artery and perhaps the Tony awards incident could have damaged it even more.

Here’s the latest message posted today on Bret’s website (by a woman named Janna):

“Once again we can’t thank everyone enough for all the well wishes and prayers being sent Bret’s way!
As of now Bret remains in ICU under 24 hour surveillance. Further testing this week will help locate the source of the bleeding.Look for an official medical report from doctors this week here at BretMichaels.com.
Please remember Bret is, and always has been, a fighter and survivor and is under the best medical care possible. Thanks for your support!”

Here was the site update from Sunday, April 25 (11PM) by the same person named Janna:

“I don’t often write notes or letters in regards to business that include my personal thoughts and feelings. However, today I feel I must make one quick statement on both a business and personal level.

Bret’s health and his care are the number one priority to his family and to those of us that know him and work with him on a daily basis. He remains in intensive care, under close supervision and is still in critical condition. Additional tests are being ran and will continue to be ran until the source of the bleeding is located. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

On that note I want to clarify that the media has been interviewing numerous people over the last few days. None and I reiterate, none, of the people that have been interviewed are authorized representatives nor do they have the right to speak on Bret’s behalf. We have attempted to release authorized statements through our publicist so as to keep everyone up to date as information becomes available. I find it inappropriate that people are granting interviews to the media when they have partial or incorrect information, no right to nor our approval to do so.

Again, we will release information as it becomes available, but right now doctors and Brets’ staff are focusing on his immediate care.”

In a nutshell, Den Headz… don’t believe anything you read on the matter unless it is directly from Bret’s site updates.

Until then, say a prayer for a fallen metal brother and lets’ make sure to keep Bret and his family in our thoughts.
