BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL 2010 has announced a further three bands to its already impressive line up.
SWEDISH Death Metal Supergroup BLOODBATH have confirmed their first ever UK appearance at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR’s 10th ANNIVERSARY Festival in Derbyshire this summer. The band, which features KATATONIA guitarist Anders ´Blakkheim´ Nystrom and vocalist Jonas Renske, OPETH’s Mikael Akerfeldt and Martin ´Axe´ Axenrot, and guitarist Per ´Sodomizer´ Eriksson have chosen BLOODSTOCK as their debut UK performance, and their only show on these shores in 2010.
Says guitarist Anders ´Blakkheim´ Nystrom: “A bloodbath over Bloodstock! What could be a better way to celebrate this mighty festival’s 10th year anniversary! It will be our first time on UK soil and it will be happening on Friday the 13th, so it seems we get to kill two birds with one stone!”
BLOODBATH formed in 1998, releasing their first EP “Breeding Death” via Century Media in 2000, subsequently releasing three full length albums over the course of the decade. Predominantly a studio band, BLOODBATH have only ever played three shows since their formation, and only one outside of their home country, at Wacken festival in 2005. It doesn’t get much more exclusive than this, and BLOODSTOCK is proud to welcome BLOODBATH to the UK for what will be a history making set of death metal magic.
Legendary Black Metallers GORGOROTH will also join the line up at BOA 2010, marking the first ever UK festival performance for the Norwegians. Many prominent musicians from the Black Metal scene have performed under the GORGOROTH banner since their formation, with controversy remaining a constant wherever they showed up. After a bitter battle with former members to re-establish the true rights of the GORGOROTH name, founder INFERNUS now returns with former band members PEST and TORMENTOR to cast a black cloud over Catton Hall for a set of the blackest of metal. With a reputation for highly visual and provocative live shows, their set at BOA 2010 is not to be missed.
Lastly, BLACK SPIDERS have been confirmed for Bloodstock 2010. These English hard rockers have been earning rave reviews across the music press, earning them the main support slot to Aussie-Rockers AIRBOURNE this coming March. Says guitarist/frontman Pete Spiby
“We feel absolutely delighted to be added to the Bloodstock festival bill. It’s a honour to be part of a festival that has the words ‘blood’ AND ‘stock’ in it. Speaking of which we’ll be bringing lashings of gravy to the proceedings …….Quo, Heep, Saxon, Motorhead, and you can quote me on that….”
In other news, DREAM EVIL have been forced to pull out of the festival. “We were really looking forward to come back to blast the Bloodstock stage again” says the band. “We had so much fun when we were last there, but sadly, we are not going to be able to do the show because of personal commitments”
The BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL 2010 will take place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 13th – 15th August.
