Recently retired custodian Michael Pelco looked back on his 42 year career at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City and had a big memory that stuck out the most:
“The first KISS shows were special to the kids. You see KISS is a city band. They all grew up around here so they just tore the place down. The worst mess was KISS in 1996. They’d just gotta back together and played four nights in a row here. We were cleaning up that damn confetti until opening night of the season for the Rangers in late September. And those KISS shows were in July. But the kids loved the shows so I guess it was all worth it.”
Michael retired unofficially on January 9th 2010 and will have a formal retirement on MSGs birthday, February 14th 2010. Michael has been working at MSG longer than anyone. And in honor, the Rangers and New York Knicks will retire his locker # to the rafters.
