Heavy Metal Journalist Sets Off Hollywood Bidding War For His Al Capone Spec Script!

“An unsolved mass murder that has baffled historians and investigators for nearly a century. Until now. This is a never-before-revealed shocker that must be seen to be believed. The untold truth behind one of the most notorious gangland slayings in history, told through the eyes of those who lived it. This isn’t just another gangster film. This is a real-world mystery waiting to be unraveled. And it’s about to hit the big screen. Get ready for the ultimate crime thriller. This is not fiction—this is the real deal.”

Fort Worth, Texas – Hollywood’s hottest unsold spec script has purportedly set off a secret bidding war, after it was pitched recently to Art Linson of Untouchables fame and Warner Brothers Michael DeLuca, who is currently in the spotlight for that big-budget Paul Thomas Anderson project “One Battle After Another” starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The gaudy $140 million budget has insiders on edge. Will it be another loser like Coppola’s “Megalopolis” which just lost the Godfather director $105 million of his own money.

Randy “Rocket” Cody’s gripping gangster epic “Public Enemy Number One” landed on the industry’s radar after Cody did a round last year of FM rock radio interviews promoting “The Mafia Tapes” – which are authentic audio cassettes of his grandmother speaking about her famous friend Al Capone that were handed to him by his younger brother one day with basic instructions: “Listen to this, bro!”

This masterpiece follows the eerie, tragic downfall of Al Capone, touching on the violence of his past (while being framed for the St. Valentine’s Massacre) and the decay of his mind due to untreated neurosyphilis. The tragic nature of his character is emphasized, particularly with his strange, detached conversations in the later stages of his life.

The transitions between events, with freeze frames and voiceover, really showcase the grim tone, while still providing some dark humor in Al’s delusions, like him thinking he still has a hold on the Outfit.

The scene involving “Loyalty! Loyalty! Loyalty!” seems to be a haunting callback to the values that defined Capone’s reign, now twisted by his mental state. His conversations with Rosella, especially his disconnected thoughts, are a powerful depiction of how far he’s fallen from the ruthless mastermind he once was.

The violence around him—like the hit on Easy Eddie—reinforces the ruthlessness of the Outfit, while Capone’s current state is marked by tragic absurdity. It creates a stark contrast, setting up a final reflection of his reign over the Chicago Outfit and the fallout that came with his mental decline.

Cody has crafted a once in a lifetime gangster classic.
