Den Headz, a forensic toxicologist now potentially holds the key to figuring out how one of the world’s biggest rock drummers ultimately met his demise.

An initial autopsy performed on Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, drummer for famed metalcore act Avenged Sevenfold – who was found dead on Monday, Dec 28th , 2009 – was deemed inconclusive according to the Orange County Sheriff’s office this past Tuesday (Dec 29th).

The coroner has ordered further toxicology, microscopic and laboratory tests in an attempt to determine exactly how Sullivan died. It will be several weeks before results are available. Forensic toxicologists specialize in determining any presence of alcohol or drugs in a deceased person.

Although many fans think “The Rev” is free and clear of that outcome because the media is calling his untimely passing a natural death, they need to understand that “Natural causes” is just a loose term that rules out homicide, suicide and accidents.

Sullivan was found dead in the Huntington Beach, Calif., home he shared with his wife, Leana MacFadden. He had recently undergone eye surgery but was in good health days before his death, according to his manager Larry Jacobson.

The Rev used to drum for the Suburban Legends before hitting it big in A7X. Suburban Legends went on to play nearly a thousand times in one year at the world famous Disneyland resort, along with a fully choreographed horn section.

Founded in 1999, Avenged Sevenfold won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006.

The five-man metalcore group hit No. 4 on the U.S. pop album chart in 2007 with its most recent album, a self-titled release that went on to ship more than 500,000 copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Sullivan, himself, had raised eyebrows after a 2006 cover feature in metal magazine Revolver, wherein he described his penchant for using cocaine and other illicit drugs.

Could this be another rock great lost to the excesses of the very life he had once
dreamed of conquering? Only time will tell.
