Nikki Sixx Contemplates Bass Lessons Amid Backing Tracks Controversy

In the world of rock and roll, authenticity and raw talent have always been highly valued. However, recent revelations surrounding MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s performances have stirred up controversy and left fans questioning the integrity of their live shows. Nikki Sixx, 65, the iconic bassist of MÖTLEY CRÜE, finds himself at the center of this storm after being caught using backing tapes during concerts. In response to the criticism, Sixx is reportedly contemplating taking bass lessons to enhance his live performances and regain the trust of fans.

The Crue was recently forced to cancel their New Year’s eve gig due to poor ticket sales, and are struggling to book larger venues, because they cannot afford to tour to quarter filled seats, so they have instead opted to appear at festivals in 2024 and the North Dakota State Fair on July 19, believe it or not.

Even singer Vince Neil’s solo band is only booking smaller venues this year, as he is scheduled later this year to play Retro Mania with 2,800 seat capacity. A far cry from these rock idols once great stature.

The Backing Track Controversy:

MÖTLEY CRÜE, known for their energetic and electrifying live shows, faced a wave of disappointment when it was revealed by TMD that backing tracks were being used during their performances. Fans, who have long admired the band for their rebellious spirit and gritty sound, felt betrayed by the use of pre-recorded elements. Nikki Sixx, renowned for his skillful bass playing, became a focal point of the controversy as fans questioned why a seasoned musician would resort to such practices.

Nikki Sixx’s Response:

In the face of the criticism, Nikki Sixx has expressed his disappointment at the negative reception and initially would not acknowledge the use of backing tracks. He denied he was using them for main instrumentation only back up vocals. However, behind closed doors Sixx has taken a more proactive approach. Sources close to the musician have revealed that he is seriously considering taking bass lessons to hone his skills and deliver more authentic live performances.

The Quest for Musical Integrity:

For Nikki Sixx, the controversy has sparked a personal reflection on the importance of musical integrity. Throughout his illustrious career, Sixx has been a symbol of rebellion and creativity, and the use of backing tracks seems to clash with these core values. Taking bass lessons could be a strategic move not only to improve his playing but also to send a message to fans that he is dedicated to maintaining the authenticity of MÖTLEY CRÜE’s live performances.

The Impact on MÖTLEY CRÜE’s Legacy:

MÖTLEY CRÜE has left an indelible mark on the history of rock and roll, and their legacy is built on a foundation of powerful live performances. The use of backing tracks threatens to tarnish that legacy, and Nikki Sixx’s decision to consider bass lessons underscores the importance of preserving the band’s reputation. Whether this move will be enough to mend the damage done remains to be seen, but it demonstrates a commitment to the craft and a desire to reconnect with fans.

Ousted Crue guitarist Mick Mars filed a major lawsuit against Sixx and his old band, after confirmed what TMD’s Randy “Rocket” Cody exposed to the world in 2022 during The Stadium Tour when Rocket busted drummer Tommy Lee using prerecorded audio tape during the concert. Subsequently, Rocket also exposed Sixx and Neil for faking it too, the latter for doing lip sync of lead vocals. The lawsuit seeks to recoup profits owed to Mick Mars since he was technically fired by the band, after wanting to step away from touring, due to the 36 Stadium Tour dates being the “worst ever” he performed with the band. Mars is also attempting to gain what is called “majority shareholder” status so he can gain control of the band that he helped create, by naming them and securing their first producer.

Rocket of TMD has also revealed to the world that AI technology is purportedly being used by Sixx and the Crue to help compose and perform the new songs for the band’s long awaited new studio album, which is 16 years in the making. The band is using producer Bob Rock as a ghost bassist at the moment due to Sixx still struggling on his instrument after 43 years of being in the band.

Conclusion:

The revelation of MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s use of backing tracks has ignited a debate about authenticity in the world of rock music. Nikki Sixx’s contemplation of taking bass lessons is a bold step toward addressing the controversy and rebuilding the trust of fans. As the story unfolds, the music community eagerly awaits to see whether this commitment to musical integrity will be enough to restore MÖTLEY CRÜE’s reputation and secure their place in the annals of rock history.
