In an interview with Desert Sun, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer and co-founder Tommy Lee admitted that the band does not have a complete new studio album recorded, which was once claimed earlier this year by bassist Nikki Sixx.
Mind you, this is a band who is in the midst of a lawsuit with their ousted 72-year-old guitarist Mick Mars, over contention between Sixx and Mars, due to each one saying the other has basically lost their mind, and in Sixx’s case, Mick contends that he is not a real musician and has stifled the band’s creativity and focused on other projects anyway, and this is why no new Crue album got released in a decade and a half.
TMD got the scoop that the band was attempting to use AI technology to get a new album composed, but word is that the songs totally sucked, and they scrapped them. Once everyone in Crue’s camp heard Mick’s new solo music they realized they had a come to Jesus moment with themselves and knew they needed to actually try to cut some real authentic songs and not just fake it with ghost performers and digital fakery.
The Crue also just cancelled their New Years Eve concert due to purported poor ticket sales.
Lee claims that there are actually only three new tracks the band has been working on.
The drummer calls them “insane” and praised John 5’s guitar work.
Mentioning the possibility of a new album in the works and the band’s rigorous work ethic, after not having released a new album in 15 years, Tommy Lee said:
“Wait until you hear it. It’s insane. It’s not a full album, but that might be down the road a bit. Uh.. we’re always writing and doing stuff, so that’s always a possibility down the road. But we just went to the studio not too long ago and recorded three insane tracks, and one of them is called ‘Dogs Of War.’ We’re just finishing up the video for it. For those jonesing for some new Crüe, people are going to bug out. John 5 is playing on it, the guitar work is incredible, and it sounds sick.”
“John 5 is playing on it, the guitar work is incredible, and it sounds sick.”
John 5 himself has begun to distance himself from the band, according to insiders, expressing regret for having left Rob Zombie’s band. John 5 has his own solo tour booked at the start of 2024, and also recently admitted that a new album with Crue was not going forward possibly as was planned initially, and that now “only some singles might” get released.
Are these new Crue songs any good or is 5’s distancing a signal that all did not go so well between them and that is why there in no interest in trying to complete a new album anymore?
I called it again months before everyone else!!
