Bay Area (USA) thrashers DESECRATER take no prisoners when it comes to unleashing
their form of brutal music. They have been making a lot of noise in the underground and
are ready to take it worldwide, showing great determination in a very competitive
“unsigned” scene.
The Metal Den’s Randy “Rocket” Cody recently conducted an interview with
Sid of DESECRATER for his loyal army of Den Headz worldwide.
Rocket: Where were you born and raised?
Sid: San leandro but raised in Hayward/Newark C.A
Rocket: Do you come from a big family?
Sid: I have one sister, but i have alot of cousins and we all stick together.
Rocket: What first drew you to playing music?
Sid: That’s a hard question i think it was when i started to get into rock music,i was so into the groove and the sick guitar riffs and the drumming i wanted to figure out how they did it. plus my dad and my step dad played guitar so that might of helped as well.
Rocket: Who are a few of your biggest guitar playing influences of past and present?
Sid: James Hetfield, Alexi from Bodom, Dave Mustaine, Jimmy Page, the guitar players from Maiden, and anyone who sings and plays guitar at the same time well.
Rocket: What kind of guitars are you currently playing live and in the studio?
Sid: My B.C Rich Warlock is my baby.
Rocket: What kind of amp rigs?
Sid: Marshall all the way, with my Rocktron rack mount.
Rocket: How many hours on average would you say you practice playing guitar each day?
Sid: At least 2hrs per day. like to keep my chops up and work on new material to bring to the band.
Rocket: What are some of the heavy metal record labels that you think would be a good
fit for DESECRATER?
Sid: We are so ready to be signed and get our music out to all the metal heads that exist. We work our butts off to put on a great live performance for our fans, we want a label that will believe in us and stick by us the whole way, and trust me we will do our part.
Rocket: I like to have fun with this next one. What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you while
performing on the stage?
Sid: In my previous band and we were playing the milwaukee metal fest in 2004,and i cut my damm finger right b4 we went on stage so i had this rinky dink band aid on lol, and after the 3rd song it came off from the sweat and it started bleeding everywhere it wasn’t funny at the time cause it stung like hell. It became funny cause I was so worried about my hands 3 months prior to the show and 20 minutes before we go on stage I cut my fuckin finger. I bled all over the stage i guess that metal though.
Rocket: With all the great metal releases so far in 2009, what albums have been your personal favorites?
Sid: The new Testament was awesome, liked the new lamb of god as well, really liked the new MEGADETH was fuckin awesome to see them go back to there roots and play some heavy shit like there supposed to.
Rocket: What are some of the upcoming shows for DESECRATER?
Sid: We have a big show coming up with the all mighty DEICIDE. were stoked about this show. It’s great that our hard work is starting to pay off were getting bigger shows and were lovin it. To play what we have created in front of large crowds and see them pitting there asses off to our songs there’s just nothing like that feeling. We just hope that we keep getting these shows so that we can show big or small labels that were not messing around, and we deserve to play with the big boys
Rocket: Where do you see yourself in ten years from now?
Sid: Hopefully signed and touring there’s nothing worse then an hard working band that never gets a shot at living there dreams. And it’s time we make our dreams become a reality. we will not give up.we are entering the studio to record some of our newer songs that we feel will really grab people’s attention. These songs are hard fast and in your face the whole time u will have no choice but to bang your fuckin head.
Rocket:Thanks very much for rocking this out with me. Best of luck with it all moving forward. Go ahead and give special thanks out to any of your friends, family and supporters.
Sid: I want to thank my family they have been so supportive of my music, they have never doubted me once. I want to thank TMD for giving us this chance to get heard and known through out the world. I want to thank my band members together if we believe and keep performing the way we do there no stopping us. and most of all I want to thank all you FUCKIN METAL HEADS. cause metal is not just music it’s a way of life.and im here to serve a life sentence.
