Mick Mars Wants Dana Strum to Replace Nikki Sixx in MÖTLEY CRÜE

The war of words in the MÖTLEY CRÜE lawsuit launched by ousted founding guitarist Mick Mars has just reached a boiling point. Mars contends that Nikki Sixx “gaslighted” him after Mars became angry over the band’s usage of “backing tracks” with main instrumentation at last year’s comeback gigs, once TMD’s creator and editor Randy “Rocket” Cody busted drummer Tommy Lee faking it by clown miming behind the drum kit along to prerecorded tracks. Mars claims that bassist Nikki Sixx is “ripping him off” for his due share of profits off The Stadium Tour debacle and says Sixx did not play one note on tour.

According to Rolling Stone:

“The lawsuit further claims that Mars initiated the founding of the band, picked singer Vince Neil (though Neil knew drummer Tommy Lee in high school), and named the band Mötley Crüe. Mars and bassist Nikki Sixx were the only musicians to stay in the band since its formation, making them the only two consistent shareholders in its businesses throughout its history.”

Now, word coming out of Mars’ camp is that the legendary shredder wants his band back and is not going to tolerate being pushed around anymore by bullies. Mars has made it clear he wants to gain ‘shareholders control’ of the band that he named and helped build, staying with the band throughout its entire history without any hitch until he was unjustly ousted and told “You are too old to be in this band!”

Mars has gone on the record with his people saying he wants to fire “Nikki Suxx” (his own words) and hire a real bass player who can actually play their instrument live for real and in the studio. The first name Mars mentioned is Vince Neil‘s solo band bassist Dana Strum (Slaughter).

According to Mars, Vince Neil’s troubles on the stage and with alcohol abuse are a contributing factor to the band’s lackluster concert performances that have been mercilessly slayed over and over by the rock media. Mars believes that Neil can be rehabilitated if he will just stop ditching rehab, and if he can get back in proper shape, he can still front the Crue moving forward.

As for Wiggy Sixx and Fakey Lee, it does not look so good. Mars believes that both Sixx and Lee sabotaged their comeback last year, in an attempt to gain full control of the band (wherein they ultimately wanted to fire Neil again), and ousted Mars by saying his “spinal disease” sent him into retirement. Mars does not want to stop playing shows (in residency) or elsewhere, so long as the band is firing on all cylinders.

The Crue’s legal team has asked to move the legal battle to private arbitration to keep all the “dirt” from getting out.
