WITCHMASTER vocalist, Kali had the following to say about the release and other band news:
“After five years of silence, WITCHMASTER is back with a new studio album. The CD, entitled Trücizna (which stands for poison) contains nine tracks of fucked-up, old-school black thrashing rock n’ roll madness. The album will be made available in the U.S. by Ibex Moon Records. In other news, WITCHMASTER has amicably parted ways with drummer Inferno due to his ‘growing commitments to his mother band, BEHEMOTH.’ His replacement is Bastek, who is also a member of SPINAL CORD and has played with HELL-BORN and DEVILYN. Furthermore, Reyash, the original WITCHMASTER bassist, has rejoined the band. He also plays with American death metal veterans INCANTATION and Polish legends VADER.”
THE STORY THUS FAR:
Formed in 1996, WITCHMASTER wasted no time in recording and releasing their first demo, Thrash Or Die; a primal rehearsal demo that would become a sign of the blackened and blasphemous speed-addled thrash to come. A year later, the band entered the studio to record the No Peace At All demo, which quickly caught the interest of labels such as Metalion’s Head Not Found, Merciless Records and Pagan Records (who featured a track on their Sounds Of The Apocalypse Vol. 1 CD sampler). By 1999, WITCHMASTER had signed with Pagan Records and soon released their debut full-length, Violence & Blasphemy. With 14 original tracks and a cover of BLASPEMY’s “Ritual,” the album solidified WITCHMASTER’s status as the champions of ‘Satanic Metal Slaughter.’ Combining the wickedness and filthiness of black metal with the unrelenting speed blasts and pure devastation of 80’s era thrash, Violence & Blasphemy proved WITCHMASTER to be a formidable presence in the world of extreme metal.
Soon after Violence & Blasphemy was unleashed, bassist Reyash and drummer Vitold turned their attention elsewhere, leaving voids that would be filled by Shymon (SUPREME LORD) and Inferno (BEHEMOTH) on bass and drums, respectively. Fronted by the vocal fury of Bastis (PROFANUM), WITCHMASTER spread their hellish barbarity upon Poland during a series of shows that earned them a reputation as a bunch of “utter fuck-heads and gutter-runners.” Triumphant in a hail of insults, WITCHMASTER recorded Masochistic Devil Worship, which was immediately scrapped due to a number of unfortunate circumstances and ultimately re-recorded at Hertz Studios in Bialystok, Poland in a mere three days.
Despite the internal strife and anti-social behavior that led to the release of Shymon, guitarist Kali and the rest of WITCHMASTER embarked on an anarchic Western European tour with DESTROYER 666 and HOWITZER, eventually welcoming Reyash back into the fold. Releasing a self-titled full-length in the latter part of 2003, the assault on Europe continued, this time with AXIS OF ADVANCE. The band has since brought drummer Bastek (ex-HELL-BORN, ex-DEVILYN, SPINAL CORD) to replace Inferno, who left due to commitments to BEHEMOTH.
After five years of silence, WITCHMASTER is back with a new studio album. This nine-song offering of fucked-up, old-school, black and thrashing rock n’ roll madness, Trücizna (Polish for “poison”), will be released worldwide on CD as well as LP by Agonia Records, and in the US by Ibex Moon Records under exclusive license from Agonia on November 10th. Additionally, Reyash has not only spent the last few years playing bass for death metal legends INCANTATION during the band’s European tours, but has recently joined the almighty VADER.
