Bay Area (USA) thrashers DESECRATER take no prisoners when it comes to unleashing
their form of brutal music. They have been making a lot of noise in the underground and
are ready to take it worldwide, showing great determination in a very competitive
“Unsigned” scene.

The Metal Den’s Randy “Rocket” Cody recently conducted an interview with Desecrater
guitarist Kirt Teeple for his loyal army of Den Headz worldwide.

Rocket

Rocket: Where were you born and raised, Kirt?

Kirt: Born in San Diego Ca., raised in San Jose Ca.

Rocket: Do you come from a big family?

Kirt: No.

Rocket: What first drew you to playing music?

Kirt: My mother and sister play the piano, and I have been around music at home a lot. Playing guitar just seemed fun and natural.

Rocket: Who are a few of your biggest guitar playing influences of the past and the present?

Kirt: Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray Vahn, Chuck Schuldiner, Luc Lemay, Alex Scholnik, and many others.

Rocket: What kind of guitars are you currently playing live and in the studio?

Kirt: All Jackson, all the time, everywhere.

Rocket: What kind of amp rigs?

Kirt: Back in the day, Marshall, Ampeg, and now, Line6

Rocket: How did DESECRATER band initially form together?

Kirt: It just happened. We come from Arsinic, Punisher, and Striknyne. We basically started a side project that turned into DESECRATER!!

Deicide and Desecrater

Rocket: You guys are working on releasing a demo to the market. What can you tell us about those songs?

Kirt: Well we put out a 3 song demo in 08 and have been distributing as much as possible. Quality could be better but they are autible and these songs are smashing when played live. Check them out on myspace.

Rocket: Will this demo be made available for fans out at the shows?

Kirt: Yes they have been available and circulating to the masses.

Rocket: What are some of the heavy metal record lables that you think would be a good fit for DESECRATER?

Kirt: There are a lot to choose from and it would not be cool to single any out. We are open for the right deal and ready to do it now.

Rocket: What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you while performing on stage?

desecrater

Kirt: I would have to say my hair getting caught on my bass players tuning keys on the neck. I had to yank some hair out to break free while bangin my head. We all laughed about that for months after.

Rocket: With all the great metal releases so far in 2009, what albums have been your personal favorites?

Kirt: I still need to invest on a collection of 09 albums, I would like to buy cd’s because I like having the hard case with artwork. I have a lot of metal on my zune and a lot of older metal on cd. I like it all. No favorites yet, DevilDrivers latest album is pretty sick. Testament, Kreator, etc.

Rocket: What are some of the upcoming DESECRATER shows we need to watch out for?

Kirt: Well we be sharing the stage with one of our older influential bands we have always been stoked on, DEICIDE!! That will be in October the 15th 09. Its on a thursday and will sell out at the VooDoo Lounge in our hometown, San Jose, California. We also did a show with FORBIDDEN at the same place last April. A sold out show as well! We will be also sharing the stage with BRUJERIA in the new year. We don’t have a lot of dumb small meaningless shows, we try to keep them apart for now and make them huge when it happens. So When you see our site on myspace, there is not a lot shows lined up. We cant be playing for a couple of bartenders. So we wait and jump on or set up what we think will be a smashing hit. We as this band is now, have seen how things are done from the experiences we obtained from our former bands. We are new in the live scene. First hit the stage 2 years ago and now we are killing the scene with our live act and doing it on stage with national acts.

Rocket: Where do you see yourself in ten years from now?

Kirt: Well that is tough, I would hope that DESECRATER got signed by a major label and toured the world or at least the country and put out many albums! I must take my talent to the arenas to destroy the stage!!
