With the imminent storm of KING GIANT’s new Black Ocean Waves LP approaching, the maiden single has been cast into public seas through an exclusive premiere of the lyric video for “Red Skies,” now playing at New Noise Magazine.

While showcasing the excellent dynamics and production of the third KING GIANT LP Black Ocean Waves, recorded last year with J. Robbins (Jawbox), the more melodic doom/rock passages of nearly seven-minute-long “Red Skies” are continually encroached upon by ominous storms, promising torrents of impending loss through the new track as vocalist Dave Hammerly’s gravelly vocals unveil an even more harrowing tale. Issued guitarist Todd Ingram of the track upon the completion of the new lyric video, “I always thought song was about Vikings. Hammer told us the other day no it’s about a captain of a whaling ship that kills his whole crew.”

With their brooding, doom-drenched take on Southern rock/metal, Northern Virginia’s KING GIANT has been rendering their woeful, rousing tales of heartfelt loss and ruthless resolution through their songcraft since 2005, and has built a solid reputation as a diehard internal workforce since inception. Celebrating their tenth year as a band in 2015, the band recorded the forty-five minute minutes of their ambitious Black Ocean Waves in July 2014 at Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore with engineer J. Robbins of Jawbox (Clutch, The Sword, Wino) who also mixed the album. Robbins also supplies Hammond organ to the track, “Blood Of The Lamb,” and background vocals on “Trail Of Thorns,” adding even more textures to the band’s diversified brew of modernized classic rock and Southern doom.

Black Ocean Waves will come ashore on June 30th with CD/digital distribution through The Path Less Traveled, the band handling the vinyl version of the album directly. See more at KingGiant.com and stand by for upcoming KING GIANT live/tour news in addition to more samples from the album.
