Footage has surfaced online of legendary PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN/HELLYEAH drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott performing the drums on “Cowboys From Hell” in Fort Worth, Texas at the Aardvark back on March 9 of this year with tribute act COWBOYS FROM HELL PASO.
Formed in late January of 2009, COWBOYS FROM HELL PASO was the brain child of Ed Razor (formally of national recording artists Pissing Razors and Ministry) as a tribute to his friends Dime and Vinnie. His vision was simple, recreate what it was like to be at a Pantera show. They do this with a huge stage production including monster stage lighting, a drum riser like Vinnie Paul used to use, count them 28 Krank cabinets, this show defiantly recreates the feeling of a Pantera show.
CFHP is no ordinary tribute band, they are the BIGGEST Pantera tribute band in the world. They are the only Pantera tribute band to be endorsed by Digitech, Sabien, Ampeg, Krank, Vic Firth, Pearl, Peavey, and Dean Guitars. Not to mention they are the only tribute band to get the ‘ok’ and support from the legends own widow Rita “Lady Dime” Haney, and Vinnie Paul, and not to forget Ride For Dime(Saturday, July 31). Fresh off a 2 week run through Texas, Cowboys HAVE BEEN PLAYING TO SOLD OUT CLUBS.. including Pantera’s home of DFW.. where the metal god himself Vinnie Paul joined them on stage for a song, which he said he hadn’t played in over 10 years.
