Poster Art Revealed For New HEAVY METAL Film!

Heavy metal

The amazing, awesome, uber artist Raymond Swanland has done an “ALL NEW” Heavy Metal poster to promote the upcoming David Fincher/James Cameron—Blur Animated Heavy Metal film due out in 2012
via Sony.

This is the project based on the popular adult comic magazine that was previously turned into an animated movie in 1981, which featured music by BLACK SABBATH, BLUE OYSTER CULT, CHEAP TRICK, DEVO, DONALD FAGAN, DON FELDER, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, SAMMY HAGAR, JOURNEY, and NAZARETH, to name only a few.

Fincher and James Cameron are going to be Co-Executive Producers on the film. The movie will be split into segments. Fincher will direct one. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film.

No names have been announced yet as to what hard rock/metal acts will appear on the soundtrack
of the new version, but TMD expects many of the top names will be included.

That is awesome! What a great looking poster, especially in this day of sloppy thrown together photoshop movie posters. I love the idea of seeing this in theaters across the country. I’ll make sure we follow the progress of the film closely and push it as much as possible.

This poster was seen last July here:

And it’s the third poster, as the second was seen July 2008:

And the first was seen in the magazine long before that, and can be seen here:
