Industry Source: Nikki Sixx Fired Mick Mars For “Being too old” And Told The Guitarist “You’re not ever welcome back!” (UPDATED)

(January 12, 2023) In the most shocking news to erupt out of the Crue’s camp, since founding guitarist Mick Mars‘ recent departure from the band, after TMD revealed John 5 would be his replacement, 11 days before any other premiere metal webzine or rock radio station confirmed it, a new twist has created its own scandal that continues to rage with new dirt.

According to a source from within the band’s inner circle, TMD has been tipped off as to the real reason Mick Mars was ousted from the Crue. It seems Mick might have some legal standing for a future ‘age discrimination” lawsuit.

Founding member Nikki Sixx is said to have behind closed doors fired Mars for “being too old” and the bassist told Mick “You’re not ever welcome back!”

As the story goes, Mick has been making his voice more known in recent months, concerning the possible move by Sixx to replace Vince Neil with ex-CREED singer Scott Stapp, believe it or not.

Mars was shown the door in the end not over his “back disease” but because had he stayed in the lineup as was originally planned from the outset, he would have thrown off the power that Sixx and Lee hold together over Neil, with Mars out of the band. So Sixx decided to use Mick’s “rare back disease” as a cover for his move to secretly oust Mars once and for all.

Yes, you read that correctly. Mick Mars still wants to play live for MÖTLEY CRÜE fans! He never intended to let them down in such a big way as to not complete the band’s comeback World Tour. Yes, word from this source is that Mick was extremely pissed off about the idea of bringing in Scott Stapp.

The source adds:

“Mick totally hates Scott Stapp. He has never liked any of his music.”

Mars is so angry that he has vowed to never speak to Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee or Vince Neil ever again.

And in his own words about The Stadium Tour:

“It Was The Worst 36 Gigs I’ve Ever Had With The Band”

Sixx lied to everyone, just like TMD proved he did. He was not planning on revealing the truth in 2022 about Mick even being out of the band until TMD blew the story up so big that he was forced to. The ticket sales would have suffered had Sixx not come clean. So, he used Variety to combat the avalanche of negative PR that TMD had created.

He could not fire Mick over a back condition that while it is certainly making it more difficult for the elder rocker to perform, was not totally crippling yet – so the Crue’s legal counsel continues to attack his ‘ability to play guitar properly’ despite the fact he was the only authentic live musician in the band. Even Mick’s own friend Carmine Appice said that Mick is still going to be jamming live at concerts in the future, just not with this version of the Crue.

Ex-Crue vocalist John Corabi has gone on the record to state that he thinks Nikki Sixx and band management are not telling the truth and are covering up the real reason Mars was removed from the lineup and his stake in the band drastically reduced, after the group only performed in two countries during their twice postponed comeback with him.

Corabi’s main beef is that he doesn’t think that Mick was allowed to make his own official statement on the matter, and it almost seems like he is radio silent now due to some sort of legal maneuver possibly being used on him by Sixx.

John Corabi: He is not buying the BS!

“… the verdict for me is out until I hear a statement from Mick. The statement that we heard was put together by Motley and their people. And I’m not totally sure I believe what they’re saying. So I’ll just leave it at that.” – John Corabi (via Blabbermouth)

Later in the interview, he clarified, “I don’t totally believe Mick’s reasons for leaving Motley. And I don’t even know if he left Motley. I believe maybe he was shown the door.”

*UPDATED 8/31/2023: The Crue toured overseas this year and plan to return for a second North American run in 2024.

The constant band drama and in-fighting has reached the stuff of legends and does not seem to be slowing down. Unfortunately, the Mick Mars lawsuit will continue to reveal “The Dirt” despite the band trying to keep everything hidden from the public.
