Ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE singer, John Corabi, has been rumored to be in talks with the Crue’s band leader Nikki Sixx to once again replace rehab jumping Vince Neil. Fans will recall Sixx is said to have issued Neil an ultimatum last year, demanding that the overweight singer lose 50 pounds within one month of the first “Stadium Tour” date or be fired.
The addition of new dates for this highly anticipated tour (extending into Canada now) indicates that the shows are definitely going to happen in 2022… and will not be postponed for a third time, despite continuing rumors that say they will be pushed back to 2023 due to COVID-19.
The most telling part of this recent development is that Nikki Sixx now feels he has the situation well enough under control to book a full schedule of gigs, since he plans to ultimately cut Neil out of the picture. As the story goes, Sixx has indeed been in secret talks to have Corabi replace Neil. When it indeed happens, the big switch will be done at the last minute (around end of May), so that their comeback tour does not start suffering a backlash of fans demanding refunds.
Despite this big mythical beef between Sixx and Crabs, the word coming from Crue’s camp right now is that Sixx approached Corabi again about replacing Vince Neil after the rotund Neil ditched rehab last week, and instead went out partying hard and ordered a $10,000 bottle of booze. According to a source who shall remain anonymous, Sixx and Corabi have been exchanging emails again with one another, and over time they have both begun to mellow out.
When he was asked in a recent interview with Thomas S. Orwat, Jr. of Rock Interview Series why Nikki would keep making such disparaging comments about his supposed ‘sub-par’ work ethic in the studio more than two decades after the Crüe LP was released, Corabi points to an interview he once did in Brazil.
He revealed that “the interviewer asked me a question, and they said, ‘Have you read Nikki’s book ‘The Heroin Diaries’?’” he continued, referencing Sixx’s 2007 book which was purportedly taken from actual journals Sixx kept in the late ’80s while in the midst of a near-fatal heroin addiction, believe it or not.

Concerning Nikki’s book, Corabi revealed that he owned the book and he bought it. During that interview, he had said that “It’s a great read.” Corabi recalled that “Now the guy, I don’t know if he was doing this to bait me or what, but the guy said, ‘Well, do you believe it all?’ And I said, ‘Whatever, dude. It doesn’t matter. It’s a great read.’”
He recalled that two months later, Nikki e-mailed me and he was pissed. Corabi said: “He’s, like, ‘Dude, I don’t appreciate you slagging my book.’ And I go, ‘I didn’t slag it.’ So I responded to him, and I said, ‘Okay. First of all, a couple of things. Did you read the whole interview? ‘Cause in the interview I did say, at the beginning and at the end, that it was a great read and I bought the book.’ And then I said, ‘Why do you give a f**k about anything I have to say?’ And I just hit ‘send.‘”
Corabi revealed how Sixx was fine at the end as Corabi revealed that “And then he came back and he was, like, ‘ Oh, okay, dude. Sorry. I didn’t read the whole… Okay. Great. Awesome.’
And it was cool. It was put to bed.”

That being said, it’s well known that Corabi is a favorite of both Mick Mars and Tommy Lee, and Corabi has been working intimately with Mars on some new songs they recorded together, originally intended for Mick’s never released solo effort. However, now word has come out that Sixx is definitely working on new Crue music and plans to drop the Crue’s final studio effort in 2023. This means everything is on the table, including Mick’s songs with Corabi, and even some new ‘beats’ Tommy wanted to work with Corabi on.
Keep in mind, fans were already tipped off to Vince Neil being ousted from the Crue, when week before last Neil booked a random solo concert date in the middle of the purported “Stadium Tour” schedule. The ugly truth is being covered up, yes, but the harsh reality of the matter is staring everyone in the face now… and Sixx knows his back is up against the wall.
“Nikki doesn’t want to let down the fans… and let’s face it, Vince Neil is a walking disaster movie right now, the source confided.
