GRIDFAILURE – New Music Video Released

“Woodlands Of Self-Impalement” is pulled from the Further Layers Of Societal Collapse EP, which was issued for free download on Halloween. As with the recently-issued debut video for “Paranoia Will Not Coagulate,” the visual incarnation of the bleak passage was filmed in various regions of New York and Pennsylvania, shot and edited by the lone creator of GRIDFAILURE’s pyroclastic disrupt. Said Loudwire of the track upon its initial release, “‘Woodlands Of Self-Impalement’ is seven-and-a-half minutes of brooding, ominous torture that begs for something catastrophic to happen, but it doesn’t – it just lurks in the shadows as you frantically survey your surroundings, just waiting for the axe to fall, pissing yourself with nervous anticipation.”

As another brutal Winter grips the region, GRIDFAILURE is completing the Hostile Alchemy EP for digital release in February when the project marks one year since its inception. The outfit continues work on the cannibalistic dementia of second album, Teeth Collection, as well as the more spacious, echoing desert burial deviations of the Drought Stick double-album. These impending titles, and other undisclosed actions taking place at The Compound, see solo creator David Brenner (ex-Theologian, ex-Heidnik) collaborating with a wide cast of internationally-situated henchpersons and taking the sound of the unit into a genre-void realm where the only boundaries exist within the imagination of the listener.


GRIDFAILURE is the unpredicted, disharmonic outcome of an experiment that rapidly spiraled out of control.

The genesis of GRIDFAILURE unexpectedly took place in February of 2016 when solo member David Brenner (ex-Theologian, Heidnik, Dead By Dawn, Militia Men, etc.) began to conduct disturbing Frankensteinian experimentation on unused material collected from various solo recording sessions over several months prior. With no forethought plan as to what these sessions were to be, by layering these disturbing and off-kilter assorted recordings, the mutated pieces began cannibalizing each other in an uncontrollable downfall; instead of ending the experiment under acres of hard earth immediately, the confused creator dove headlong into the abyss.

Executed between early February early April 2016, the debut GRIDFAILURE recordings have converged into a tortured, perplexing, exploratory attack on the senses, dubbed Ensuring The Bloodline Ends Here, which bears eight movements conceived, performed, recorded, produced, and packaged by Brenner. Ensuring The Bloodline Ends Here incorporates the abuse of electric and acoustic guitar/bass, violins, harmonica, keyboards, electronics, chimes, drums, bongos, chains, bells, and more, in addition to the infusion of other components not limited to incineration, bizarre weather systems, tools, and mammals. Layers of unorthodox instrumentation ethereally infested by unhinged waves of unharnessed vocal exploration and punishing rants formulate a biomechanical mistake neither man or nature want to claim.

Uncomfortable, unnerving, questionable, and certainly paranoia-inducing, Ensuring The Bloodline Ends Here was released on CD and digital via the in-house-owned Earsplit Compound label faction, The Compound Recs, Friday the 13th of May 2016.

GRIDFAILURE continue to unfold, expand, and deteriorate upon the public in the coming months with the infusion of other performers, through collaborative releases, the mutation into a live entity and more.
