CHILD BITE – Issue Studio Update

Detroit’s favorite punk metal/noise rock misfits, CHILD BITE, recently took a brief pause from their US live takeover to record their forthcoming new full-length at Philip H. Anselmo’s famed Nodferatu’s Lair.

Reports vocalist Shawn Knight from the Lair, “We’ve been having a blast in the studio with Philip Anselmo! Historically, CHILD BITE has tracked full-length LPs in two to four days, so it has been both strange and relieving to spend two full weeks at Nodferatu’s Lair. The thirteen songs we tracked sound incredible, ten of which will make up the album while the other three will be released independently. In our spare time, we also shot a music video for ‘Mongoloid Obsession’ off of the Strange Waste EP. Written and directed by the band, it’s a lo-if slab of Ed Wood-meets-John Waters bafoonery. Look for that sucker any day now!”

The band’s forthcoming long player will be unleashed via Anselmo’s Housecore Records later this year. In the meantime, CHILD BITE will return to the road tonight to terrorize New Orleans alongside labelmates Author & Punisher and Gasmiasma before ravaging the ears of Jacksonville, Charlotte, Richmond, Canton and Cincinnati. From there, CHILD BITE will take a short breather before heading back out supporting Kentucky’s Coliseum for a nine-date run of East Coast demolitions.

Crowned “the soundtrack to the greatest psychotic slasher film that never was,” by American Aftermath, CHILD BITE’s Strange Waste EP was release via Housecore Records last Fall. Ugly, anxious and perilously habit-forming, the record continues to shock and awe ears of the willing with its deliciously bastardized hybrid of the Melvins, Dead Kennedys, Big Black and Faith No More. And don’t forget to peep the band’s video for “Ancestral Ooze.” Written and directed by ex-Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Jeff Tuttle and featuring the Melvins’ Buzz Osborne, the clip is a tribute to the 1987 underground horror flick Street Trash.

“CHILD BITE’s music smashes into you, as fast as a freight train and just as heavy. The guitars are a blistering blur of nimble and gnarly tones, with the rhythm section’s raucous grooves propelling a raspy, yowling vocalist’s emphatically motor-mouthed lyrics…” – Detroit Free Press

“Knight’s voice is what I image one would get by throwing the vocals of Mike Patton, Jello Biafra, Joe McTighe, David Yow and Dave Brockie into a furnace to mix together and pour out as a flowing molten blend. Strange Waste is one of those rare albums that is ridiculously good from start to finish.” – The Examiner
