ROCKET RANT: KISS Is A Sham And I Want My Money Back!

Shame on you two! Until this week, I was a lifelong KISS fan (well since I was 6 years old in 1976) and after the past decade or more now of watching you two mercilessly denigrate the other half of the legendary original lineup, that is the incomparable Ace Frehley on lead guitar and Peter Criss on drums, I am now cutting up my KISS army membership card once and for all. It’s mainly thanks to your disrespectful behavior towards not only your former band mates – in concern with your not wanting to do a one-off performance together with them at the upcoming Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony, but also your lack of compassion toward the fans. You two have forever disgraced KISS fans like myself who spent their hard earned money along the way to purchase your music, concert tickets and the never ending cluster fuck that is the KISS merchandise machine. And I am not talking about the fans who jumped on the band wagon after the fact in the 80’s and 90’s. I am talking about the original KISS army of devoted fans like myself who put you two greedy jerks on top, based on a ‘rock brotherhood’ ideal that was sold to us in your music! Why do you think most of us were listening in the first place? It was magnetic the chemistry that you two had with Ace and Peter when you hit the stage. No other band in history put together a more mysterious & explosive stage persona than KISS of the 1970’s! Why doesn’t any of that mean anything to you two now? Well it means everything to the old school KISS fans like me, dammit. And if it ever did mean something, you two would not treat the other half of the creative force that is responsible for making KISS come to life in the first place like a pile of shit you stepped in while living on planet earth. Yes, we understand there is animosity from years of estrangement. Sure, you two can go the way of Axl Rose and do things how you want to at the end of the day with your middle finger in the air, but I for one, will not tolerate it. Paul went on record saying he thinks the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a ‘sham’, well I think it is KISS that has perpetuated the biggest rock sham of them all and I want my goddamn money back!! I figure if you add it all up over the past three plus decades of my investing in KISS, I am owed somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000 for this fraud. Now that does not include the loss of production in life from spending all those countless hours listening to ‘Kiss’ music – all the while buying into the ‘bullshit’ message of rock unity you two monsters sold to me – but at least it’s a fucking start! If I could put a real monetary amount on the pain and suffering you two old, bloated jokes have caused me personally I could retire a millionaire and just call it a day!!

Do you remember what a rock band is supposed to be about? Didn’t Dick Clark teach that to you two at some point watching American bandstand as youngsters? KISS, the band, was about four totally unknown and uniquely different individuals coming together in the start to create music based on a belief that ‘teamwork’ and a sense of belief in one another’s God given ability could take you from nowhere in life and put you somewhere incredible. That is what helped propel your band to the top. Simply put, without Ace and Peter, you two would not have sold out a closet!

And how would your late manager Bill Aucoin feel about all of this? You remember him, right? He was the dude that adamantly opposed your first record label on the subject of keeping your makeup on after they demanded you remove it. It was a bold move that he made for ‘the team’ and it paid off. You two rock clowns kept the makeup on, along with Ace and Peter, and the rest is rock history. Or is it? Maybe this was just the start of the ‘Kiss sham’, huh?

You two have not only made a complete mockery out of what the ‘rock institution’ is supposed to be all about, but now you end it all in the eyes of the fans by spitting on the two guys that helped get you there, along with denouncing your belief in the Rock Hall of Fame itself!! Have you both totally gone insane??? I want my money back and I want all that time back so I can go do something else more productive and less painful, like set my hair on fire over and over again!!!
