TMD unearths an UNCIRCULATED LIVE SOUNDBOARD recording of “Firehouse” performed by legendary rockers KISS. The date of the performance is October 18, 1974 at Hammond, Indiana’s The Parthenon Theatre, with RUSH (and their brand new drummer Neil Peart) serving as the opening act for an audience of 2,000.

“Firehouse” comes off the band’s debut record, which was released February 18, 1974. KISS had only been a band for a little over a year at the time of its release. After a year in the clubs, KISS were now paying their dues on the national tour circuit and establishing a mean reputation as the hottest band in the land. As the story goes, Casablanca Records threw a party at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California to celebrate the West Coast release of the self-titled album. Kiss performed their trademark ‘over-the-top’ stage show, which turned Warner Bros. Records (Casablanca’s record distributor) against them. Immediately after the gig, Warner Brothers Records contacted Casablanca’s Neil Bogart and threatened to bring an end to their deal with Casablanca if Kiss didn’t remove their makeup. With late great manager Bill Aucoin’s backing, Kiss refused to do what they wanted. Not long after the release of Kiss, Warner Bros. released Casablanca from their contract.

And the rest as they say… is rock n roll history. Listen to the extremely rare KISS recording below!
