Ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars, 72, is set to drop his debut solo album on February 23, 2024 and the guitar legend has taken part in a brand-new interview with ‘Monsters, Madness and Magic’ channel on YouTube, detailing his battle vs. AS and the addiction he had to battle from using opiates to deal with the pain, plus mind blowing revelations of Mick’s encounters with the supernatural, including alien cat women, believe it or not. Mick also discusses in depth his second single “Right Side Of Wrong” issued from his forthcoming solo album titled “The Other Side Of Mars”.
Here are a few excerpts from the discussion:
Mick: …Not really a progressive kind of a thing and not like uh I wanted to go somewhere else because I learned all I could learn from that (glam) era and I had all these things around in my head and I still got so much stuff up in there but even as a gizzard but it’s okay but yeah it was it was cool to be able to go like hear that like just not just in my head like there it is you know and I’m listening to the music listening to the music mixes and all that all that stuff you know it was uh I was I’m pretty happy with the way that the music has turned out you know but I still have others I need to take one more step and I know it and I can feel it and it’s more closely what I’m thinking now is more closely related to like a song off the current album ‘Undone’ that song more like in that way or ‘Killing Breed’ more than that but of course the big crunch songs too like you know ‘Loyal the Lie’ you know those are important to me too but um you know a little more wherever it goes you know I have I have to I have to take the next step you know maybe you know I think every musician thinks that way though pretty much just like well I’ve been there and done that it’s next you know yeah I don’t know…
Interviewer: So are you running the uh the same rig same uh amp and guitar setup that you have been using for years?
Mick: For the new stuff of course that that is that is my sound you know I mean like uh Jeff Beck has his thing and most certainly like Jimmy Page and Hendrix and those guys and I stumbled on to my own kind of a tone sound too so but I’ve always been like a tone nut too like I was always like uh a massive fan of uh Jeff Beck because of his tone you know…
Interviewer: Sorry, the video for ‘Right Side of Wrong’ I wanted to ask you a bit about the video because uh I think Steven was telling me his little Frankenstein stuff going on there on.
Mick: Right side of wrong yeah uh there’s a little bit of weirdness yeah that’s going to happen um you know I don’t know how much he told you Frankenstein was a good movie too, but um back to my video yeah there’s uh the right side of wrong like if you have uh two sides right and they both think they’re fighting for the right cause if they cross over then you know switch sides they’re going to think like well maybe you know what I mean it’s like well maybe they were right no maybe they were right no well maybe they you know but there’s no right that of wrong.
Interviewer: You had an experience that you would consider supernatural or paranormal…
Mick: Only when I was high oh what was that um I had these you know I have to stay on tour with the pain I would take opiates right and so being off too I was already hooked on these crappy things and living by myself and nobody around I couldn’t drive because of my AS and stuff and I got really horribly addicted to these things that’s when I started seeing things there was like always seven people or beings in my house all the time if it was an aliens holding down my arms and legs and another alien kind of looking at me and a doctor’s head pokes through the ceiling and goes there’s nothing we can do for him that what happened to me one time holy [ __ ] and I don’t know what they call them but they were female feline cat women that would come at me and in like almost like a uh what’s his name Captain Fantastic or whatever he is with the stripes on and stuff yeah and with the star on the Belt um some of that happened and uh some other things that would happen I mean it was like that was a sick guy sick and uh there would be uh um like I say seven entities one and sometimes they were like Angry indigenous people that were here before us and they were mad and so you know that kind of stuff they lived in my closet now that’s pretty whack I could write a story about it.
I called it again months before everyone else!!
