Extremely sad news to report. Legendary RIGOR MORTIS/WARBEAST vocalist, Bruce Corbitt, passed away today at the age of 56 after fighting one seriously brave battle versus terminal esophageal cancer starting in May of 2017.

The metal music world has lost one of the most influential performers of all time, and he will be forever missed.

Rocket of TMD comments:

“My wife, Hope and myself send our condolences out to Bruce’s family, friends, band members, and most importantly, the fans that supported this man through the most courageous battle anyone fought against cancer. My wife has known Bruce growing up in Fort Worth, Texas for many years… first handing out Rigor Mortis show flyers around the city when she was only 15 back in the eighties. She would sneak into the gigs and got to become such good friends that eventually Bruce started showing up to her birthday parties, and her other friends were blown the hell away. “You know Bruce Corbitt?” “Yes, Bruce is my friend,” she always responded. And Bruce always treated my wife with the utmost respect and she is really devastated today by his passing. Bruce’s legacy in METAL lives on… and BATMAN (as he liked to be called) will continue to rattle souls from beyond with an incredible influence and mark he left on the people he touched that will never die. Just as Bruce Wayne did, Bruce Corbitt donned the ‘dark cape’ and like the bat soared above the masses as the fearless one preaching to us about the uglier side of life, tackling extreme subjects like the undead and bloody murder. Now is it time for the incredible body of music that he left behind to do the rest of the talking for him. If there is one thing we will all remember about this great man is that you never give up in life… you always fight until the end. And just when things look their worst… you look that demon in the eye and say: “I’m doing this on my own terms!” And that is exactly what Bruce did… he lasted longer battling this particular form of cancer, in this terminal stage, then pretty much anyone else in history. The cancer may have won the fight, but the battle… which is how you handle yourself during such a traumatic time… nope, Bruce won that fair and square. You know damn well! Rest in peace, brother!”
