The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame newly inducted: Jeff Beck, Metallica, Run-DMC, Bobby Womack and Little Anthony and the Imperials. For only the second time in their 24-year history, the inductions were held in Cleveland, which has been home to the hall of fame’s museum since 1995. The show was opened up to the public for the first time, with thousands of shouting, fist-pumping fans lining the balconies of the public auditorium.
“Rock ’n’ roll is about possibilities and about dreams,” said Lars Ulrich, the drummer of Metallica, who accepted the award with both current and former band mates. “Anything is possible if you just have the guts to believe it.”
The band performed together on stage during the ceremony as a five piece, with both Jason Newsted and current Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo holding down the low end.
Cliff Burton's father was there to represent the fallen bass great who was killed tragically in a Sweden bus crash back on Sep 27, 1986.
