There was a moment in time where it looked like Lars Ulrich was going to back up all of the things he put out in the press, when he began to tempt METALLICA’s fans with the idea of potentially bringing the world’s biggest pop star into the recording studio with the legendary heavy metal band as an official “5th member”. This was not a joke, believe it or not<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lars Ulrich called Lady Gaga \u201cthe quintessential perfect fifth member\u201d of\u00a0Metallica\u00a0following the group\u2019s collaboration with her at the Grammy Awards on February 12, 2017. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0\u201cHer voice, her attitude, her outlook on everything is so awesome,\u201d Lars said. \u201c[The performance] was so effortless and organic and she just has the spirit of hard rock and metal flowing through her veins. It comes really easy for her. There\u2019s nothing contrived; she just has this super warm, easy energy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n So, what happened? Lars did not hold up his end of the deal, letting the fans down, not just Lady Gaga’s fanbase, who got their hopes up but were already fooled back in 2017 on April Fools<\/a> when TMD launched an epic hoax that purported Gaga was going to indeed record with Lars, James, Kirk and Robert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The funniest thing is that at the very same time Lars Ulrich was making a false promise to fans who held onto his word that he had already given them that he was not going to treat Gaga like some kind of sex object used for the band’s publicity needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s\u00a0not the first time rumors have been rife about the two iconic music stars hooking up<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe already started fast-forwarding to the next chapter when we can do more of this,\u201d Lars confirmed in a Rolling Stone interview<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not one of those \u201920 lawyers, strategists and managers trying to force two people from two different worlds to figure out how to spend four minutes together on a national telecast.\u2019 Of any of these undertakings, this is about as organic and authentic as there\u2019s ever been one.
