{"id":85559,"date":"2021-05-14T06:28:59","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T11:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/?p=85559"},"modified":"2021-05-14T06:29:00","modified_gmt":"2021-05-14T11:29:00","slug":"planet-of-the-dead-debut-new-music-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/?p=85559","title":{"rendered":"PLANET OF THE DEAD &#8211; Debut New Music Video"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Just little over a year following the release of their auspicious debut album\u00a0<strong>\u201cFear of a Dead Planet\u201d<\/strong>, New Zealand\u00a0stoner and doom four-piece band\u00a0<strong>PLANET OF THE DEAD<\/strong>\u00a0are back with a new full-length album titled\u00a0<strong>\u201cPilgrims\u201d<\/strong>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Produced by&nbsp;<strong>James Goldsmith<\/strong>&nbsp;at The Surgery, Wellington, NZ and mastered by&nbsp;<strong>Brad Boatright<\/strong>&nbsp;at Audiosiege, Portland, US,<strong>&nbsp;\u201cPilgrims\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;is set for release on July 23rd and sees<strong>&nbsp;Planet of the Dead<\/strong>&nbsp;churning out supermassive and megalithic riffs inspired in creepy tales of classic science fiction and horror. Pre-orders are now available&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/viralpropagandapr.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=5a81d5eeac6d9d8453f6dfdd9&amp;id=266dc53ed7&amp;e=7cd3bd769e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The band comments:&nbsp;<em>\u201cOur second album came together around the titular track &#8216;Pilgrim&#8217;, which is based on the book &#8216;Slaughterhouse 5&#8217; by Kurt Vonnegut. Musically, it plays upon the themes of moments trapped in the amber.<br \/>Our basic concept is heavy music played heavy, and we try to keep it simple. There are recurrent themes in our riffs which gives the album a sense of coherence, but we&#8217;ve experimented with some new sounds in the latest album which we feel results in a greater sense of dynamism.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/planetofthedeadcover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"  data-gnlv=\"hey\" src=\"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/planetofthedeadcover.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-85560\" width=\"357\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/planetofthedeadcover.jpg 500w, https:\/\/themetalden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/planetofthedeadcover-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/themetalden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/planetofthedeadcover-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/themetalden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/planetofthedeadcover-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 357px) 100vw, 357px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Cvlt Nation<\/strong>&nbsp;recently premiered a music video for the track&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Escape From Smiths Grove&#8221;<\/strong>, which features&nbsp;scenes from&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Abel Ferrara<\/strong>&#8216;s slasher film&nbsp;<em><strong>The Driller Killer<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>&#8220;Our single is a shameless homage to John Carpenter&#8217;s 1978 masterpiece, &#8216;Hallowe&#8217;en&#8217;.<\/em>&nbsp;Says the band.&nbsp;<em>&#8220;The night&nbsp;he came home. From our perspective, this track evolved massively in the studio; originally we weren&#8217;t sure if it was good enough for the album, but to our&nbsp;surprise it ended up being one of our favourite tracks, and is now a staple of our live set.<br \/>The video reflects the themes of the subject matter and the genre; we opted to use imagery from Abel Ferrara&#8217;s creepy psycho-drama, &#8216;The Driller Killer&#8217;.
