Ex-BLACK SABBATH<\/strong>\u00a0singer\u00a0Tony Martin<\/strong>\u00a0has signed with\u00a0Battlegod Productions<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Dark Star Records<\/strong>\u00a0for the release of his long-awaited new solo album. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the guest musicians slated to appear on the LP are\u00a0Danny “Dant\u00e9” Needham<\/strong>\u00a0(VENOM<\/strong>),\u00a0Magnus Ros\u00e9n<\/strong>\u00a0(ex-HAMMERFALL<\/strong>),\u00a0Scott McClellan<\/strong>,\u00a0Greg Smith<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Martin<\/strong>‘s youngest son\u00a0Joe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin<\/strong> comments: “I have chosen two labels to work on the release of the new\u00a0Tony Martin<\/strong>\u00a0album. The first one I have chosen is\u00a0Battlegod<\/strong>. These guys have shown immense faith and enthusiasm for this release. And I am really pleased to have them working on it for Australia, Asia, Europe and Japan. The next label I want to introduce is\u00a0Dark Star<\/strong>. These guys have been super flexible in their approach to getting this on side… very happy to have them as part of this release. For all the Americas these are the guys that you will get the new\u00a0Tony Martin<\/strong>\u00a0album from.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin<\/strong>‘s last solo album, “Scream”<\/strong>, was released in November 2005 via MTM Music<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BLACK SABBATH<\/strong> released six albums with Martin<\/strong> on vocals: “The Eternal Idol”<\/strong> (1987), “Headless Cross”<\/strong> (1989), “Tyr”<\/strong> (1990), “Cross Purposes”<\/strong> (1994), “Cross Purposes Live”<\/strong> (1995) and “Forbidden”<\/strong> (1995). Eventually, Martin<\/strong> and his “Forbidden”<\/strong>-era bandmates were ousted when guitarist Tony Iommi<\/strong> reunited with SABBATH<\/strong>‘s fellow original members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a 2012 interview with \u00dcber R\u00f6ck<\/strong>, Martin<\/strong> said that he was “surprised” to see Iommi<\/strong> criticizing him in the guitarist’s “Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven And Hell With Black Sabbath”<\/strong> book (referring to the Martin<\/strong> period, especially the touring phase following the release of “Cross Purposes”<\/strong> in 1994, Iommi<\/strong> lambasted his former singer as “unprofessional” and having “no stage presence”). Martin<\/strong> said: “I mean, they never said anything to me. Surely, if you’ve got a problem, the first person you should say something to is the person that’s in the band with you… It sounds like a really stupid thing to say, as they didn’t say anything to my face \u2014 and, if that’s the case, then more fool them for not saying anything, because, you know, we could have fixed it. I said to them, endlessly, that if there was anything they wanted changed, done differently, just to say and we could fix it, but clearly, they didn’t, they hadn’t got the guts to, obviously, and to write about it in a book afterwards seems a bit daft to me. I’m not bitter about it, but it is surprising… It seems a bit stupid to say that after the event.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four years ago,\u00a0Iommi<\/strong>\u00a0told\u00a0I Heart Guitar<\/strong>\u00a0that “it’s a shame” that “it took a lot for people to accept”\u00a0Martin<\/strong>\u00a0as\u00a0SABBATH<\/strong>‘s vocalist. “It’s taken all these years later for people to say, ‘Oh blimey, that was a good band with good singing.’ So it took a long time to get people to really realize how good it was.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
