His composition \u201c<strong>The Ecstasy Of Gold<\/strong>\u201d from the 1966 film \u2018<strong>The Good, The Bad And The Ugly<\/strong>\u2018 has opened nearly every <strong>Metallica<\/strong> live performance since 1983. Frontman <strong>James Hetfield<\/strong> commented earlier today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe day we first played \u201c<strong>The Ecstasy of Gold<\/strong>\u201d as our new intro in 1983 it was magic! It has become apart of our blood flow, deep breathing, fist bumping, prayers and band huddle pre-show ritual ever since. I have sang that melody thousands of times to warm up my throat before hitting the stage. Thank you <strong>Ennio <\/strong>for pumping us up, being a big part of our inspiration, and a bonding between band, crew, and fan.
