Deadline<\/a> has reported that late MOT\u00d6RHEAD<\/strong> frontman\/bassist Ian \u201cLemmy\u201d Kilmister<\/strong> will be the subject of an upcoming biographical movie. Greg Olliver<\/strong>, who directed the 2010 documentary \u2018Lemmy<\/strong>\u2018, will be helming the picture. The film “will chronicle the metal legend\u2019s early live and rise to fame, his infamous exploits and more.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todd Singerman<\/strong> and Steffan Chirazi<\/strong>, who played behind the scenes roles in management and creative consultant, etc. capacities for Mot\u00f6rhead<\/strong> will serve as executive producers. Production is expected to commence in early 2021. Speaking of his vision for the film, Olliver<\/strong> stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEverything you\u2019ve heard about Lemmy <\/strong>is probably true\u2026 not because he was embracing rock n\u2019 roll clich\u00e9s, but because he was creating them. Marlboro Reds and Jack Daniel\u2019s for breakfast, speed for dinner \u2013 all true. But behind that steely-eyed fa\u00e7ade of rock n\u2019 roll was also a compelling, complicated and lion-hearted man who stayed the course and never gave up playing the music that made him happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve been carefully developing this biopic since 2013, making sure to stay true to Lemmy<\/strong>, Mot\u00f6rhead<\/strong> band members Phil Campbell<\/strong> and Mikkey Dee<\/strong>, and all the other folks that played important roles in Lemmy<\/strong>\u2019s life. This will be a film they\u2019ll be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Mot\u00f6rhead’s overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal was one of the most groundbreaking sounds the genre had to offer in the late ’70s. Though the group’s leader, Lemmy Kilmister, had his roots in the hard-rocking space rock band Hawkwind, Mot\u00f6rhead didn’t bother with his old group’s progressive tendencies, choosing to amplify the heavy biker-rock elements of Hawkwind with the speed of punk rock. Mot\u00f6rhead wasn’t punk rock (they formed before the Sex Pistols and they loved the hell-for-leather imagery of bikers too much to conform with the safety-pinned, ripped T-shirts of punk), but they were the first metal band to harness that energy and, in the process, they created speed metal and thrash metal. Unlike many of their contemporaries, Mot\u00f6rhead<\/a> continued performing into the next century.
