OVERKILL’<\/strong>s 20th studio album is in full swing, with the band’s confirmation they are working on ten new songs. Speaking recently with A&P-REACTS<\/a>, the band\u2019s frontman Bobby \u201cBlitz\u201d Ellsworth<\/strong> comments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s 10 songs right now. I\u2019m messing around with them, Dave Linsk<\/strong> [guitar] is messing around with them. Listen, there\u2019s no better time to have the old norm for us during a time when the new normal is obviously right around the corner for all of us in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I think that we\u2019re gonna have more time to write it, and I think this also gives us the opportunity to scrutinize it a little bit more, which we didn\u2019t do on the last record, and I\u2019m happy to have that extra time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for how the album sounds, he stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI see it as a natural progression from \u2018The Grinding Wheel<\/strong>\u2018 and \u2018The Wings Of War<\/strong>\u2018. It think when we had done the \u2018Ironbound<\/strong>\u2018 record, it almost became like a trilogy in there \u2014 it was kind of like \u2018Ironbound<\/strong>\u2018, \u2018The Electric Age<\/strong>\u2018 and \u2018White Devil Armory<\/strong>\u2018, and they seemed to be the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost kind of a thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think we kind of broke the mold a little bit with \u2018The Grinding Wheel<\/strong>\u2018, and then I think a little bit more with \u2018The Wings Of War<\/strong>\u2018. And on this one, I see it way more. And what I mean by that is that we\u2019ve used other tools from our toolshed in the past, and that\u2019s the slow grind that is coupled with that fast gallop. So it feels like a natural progression, but maybe two records ahead of what \u2018The Wings Of War<\/strong>\u2018 is. And that\u2019s probably as objective as I can be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also touched upon when fans can expect to hear the outing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cApril 2021 is what we\u2019re targeting. We\u2019re looking to start mixing it mid-December, so it should be done somewhere around the holidays or delivered in the first week of January type of thing. We\u2019ve also gone so far as to tentatively search out [tour] dates on the release \u2014 2021 in the U.S., or in North America for that matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then Europe would be October of 2021. But we have the whole festival season that\u2019s been canceled from this summer, is gonna be shifted to summer of 2021, so we\u2019re gonna slide over into that Wacken<\/strong> and the Wacken<\/strong> cruise and a bunch of other things that we have on the plate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
