What was immediately apparent: guitarists John Matos and Matt Mendez formed an absolutely lethal guitar duo, and bassist Alex Vasquez\u2019s finger style bass playing provided an athletic sounding low end that helped to vault <strong>Abiotic<\/strong> to the forefront of the underground touring circuit. The video for \u201cVermosapien\u201d (directed by Dan Drescher) immediately racked up tens of thousands of views and attracted the attention of Metal Blade Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Abiotic<\/strong> signed to Metal Blade Records and released their debut album, \u201c<em>Symbiosis<\/em>,\u201d which was followed by regional and national touring. Reviews for the album were predominantly positive \u2013 Terrorizer Magazine called the record \u201c<em>a monstrously ferocious first full-length<\/em>\u201d and Decibel Magazine claimed that <strong>Abiotic<\/strong> \u201c<em>could eventually help propel some kind of post-djent prog bandwagon.<\/em>\u201d The promotional cycle for \u201c<em>Symbiosis<\/em>\u201d concluded with a support tour with Dying Fetus and Exhumed. By the end of 2014, <strong>Abiotic<\/strong> had re-tooled their line up by adding vocalist Travis Bartosek and drummer Brent Phillips.
