In this recent interview with Rollingstone.com<\/a>, MEGADETH<\/strong> vocalist\/guitarist Dave Mustaine<\/strong> discussed his cancer diagnosis and treatment, the latter of which he recently completed and continues to recover from. Also briefly mentioned in that interview were plans for Megadeth<\/strong> to potentially release a few new singles around the time of their early 2020 European\/UK tour with Five Finger Death Punch<\/strong> and Bad Wolves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a new companion piece to that interview over at rollingstone.com<\/a>, Mustaine<\/strong> spoke a bit more at length at what the legendary thrash metal group have up their sleeves music wise. While his cancer fight this year saw the band set aside their plans to work on a new album, they did complete the frameworks for \u201cnine really crushing songs\u201d in rough demo form prior to his diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Mustaine<\/strong>, the band are currently mulling over releasing two to four new tracks prior to the tour. Tentative track titles include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Dogs Of Chernobyl<\/strong>\u201d
\n\u201cFaster Than Anything Else<\/strong>\u201d
\n\u201cRattlehead, Part Two<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One song in particular may also find the band\u2019s bassist David Ellefson<\/strong> taking on the vocal duties. Mustaine<\/strong> said of that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI said to him, \u2018What was the biggest song that Kiss<\/strong> ever had?\u2019 He goes, \u2018Beth<\/strong>.\u2019 I said, \u2018Yeah, we should write a song like \u2018Beth<\/strong>,\u2019 where it\u2019s a ballad and it\u2019s just you singing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think you should write a song about what it\u2019s like being in Megadeth<\/strong> with me, because I read all your lyrics, and I know that your lyrics are aimed at me. You\u2019re upset. So why don\u2019t you write about it?’\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He continued:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to try to work on it now for this record, and if it doesn\u2019t get on this record, I\u2019m going to try to work on it on the next record. Because it was actually really cool to see Ellefson<\/strong> writing something and hear him singing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ellefson<\/strong> himself previously gave up his ownership stake in the Megadeth<\/strong> brand and became a salaried employee following a previous fallout between himself and Mustaine<\/strong>. Dates for the band\u2019s upcoming tour with Five Finger Death Punch<\/strong> and Bad Wolves<\/strong> include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
