\nFlorida-based melodic death metal quintet THE ABSENCE have unveiled a music video for a new song called \u201cMisery Trophies.\u201d The clip, which premiered yesterday via Decibel Magazine, can now be viewed on YouTube at this location: https:\/\/youtu.be\/fkZ3aT42vzE<\/a> <\/p>\n
The single, which is also available for download and stream via digital platforms, comes from their highly anticipated new album, A Gift for The Obsessed, out March 23rd on M-Theory Audio<\/p>\n
\u201cMisery Trophies\u201d marks THE ABSENCE’s second music video release leading up to the launch of A Gift For The Obsessed. In January, the group posted a clip for the album’s title track, which can be viewed at this location – https:\/\/youtu.be\/AdHUryDMcHs<\/a><\/p>\n \u201c\u2019Misery Trophies\u2019 is about the toxic people that we all have in our lives,\u201d explains singer Jamie Stewart. \u201cThe people who cannot wait to be the bearers of bad news – individuals so devoid of joy themselves, that they revel in the delivery of misery to others.\u201d<\/p>\n The video was directed and shot by Deidra Kling and Jeramie Kling, and edited by Tommy Jones (Slayer, Testament) at VideoHammer.<\/p>\n A Gift for The Obsessed is THE ABSENCE\u2019s first full-length in eight years, but the band members have been keeping themselves busy in their off-time, especially as of late touring with a number of high-profile acts. Bassist Mike Leon is currently touring with Soulfly as the group performs Nailbomb’s \u201cPoint Blank,\u201d and will hit the road with the band again in April and May as they tour with Nile. Jeramie Kling, meanwhile, is drumming for Venom Inc. during their current European tour with Suffocation. Finally, guitarist Joey Concepcion is guesting with Sanctuary as the group tours North America with Iced Earth. This is all in addition to resumes that include names such as Soilwork, Havok, Arsis, Armageddon, Jasta, Necromancing the Stone, Ribspreader, Gus G and others highlighting the fact that the players in THE ABSENCE are go-to guys for first-rate musicians and excellent live performers.
