\nExperimental post-hardcore triumvirate PHILM, featuring Gerry Nestler (CIVIL DEFIANCE) on vocals, guitar and piano, bassist Pancho Tomaselli (WAR, PROJECT N-FIDELIKAH), and Grammy Award winning Venezuelan-born drummer, Anderson Quintero, have announced plans for a 10\u201d vinyl EP to inaugurate the band\u2019s new line-up. Slated for an early 2017 release, the EP will contain three songs, the 11-minute title track, \u201cTime Burner\u201d, along with \u201cCries of the Century\u201d and \u201cThe Seventh Sun\u201d; the lyric video for the latter is available HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve just licensed the artwork for the EP and are getting everything ready for the pressing plant but we won\u2019t have copies available until the new year\u201d, reveals Nestler. \u201cAt the same time we wanted to give the fans a taste of what\u2019s to come, so we decided to leak a track. \u201cThe Seventh Sun\u201d is one of the last things we recorded in L.A. with engineer\/producer Chris Sorem prior to our moving to the East Coast. I think the cut is proof positive that PHILM is as vital and strong as ever and that we\u2019ve made a smooth transition with Anderson on board. The EP is a continuation of what we\u2019ve done musically on our first two full-length albums but at the same time, we\u2019re not shying away from exploring new ground. The song \u201cTime Burner\u201d will probably throw some people for a loop because it\u2019s a very jazz oriented piano-based piece, something we\u2019ve never done within the framework of this band but can do now with Anderson on drums.\u201d<\/p>\n
PHILM was formed by Nestler and former SLAYER drummer, Dave Lombardo, who left the group earlier this year, with Berklee trained bassist Pancho Tomaselli completing the line-up. They subsequently signed with Mike Patton\u2019s label, Ipecac Records, for the release of their 2012 debut album, \u2018Harmonic\u2019. The follow-up, \u2018Fire From The Evening Sun\u2019, was issued in the fall of 2014 via Germany\u2019s UDR Records.
