\nANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian is expecting for the band can make it into the studio in May to start the initial recording process for their new album. On the very subject, an exchange recently took place with Ian and Rollingstone.com:

\n\u201cWhile we\u2019re on the subject of Anthrax, are you guys recording?
\n
\nYeah. Frank [Bello, bass] and Charlie [Benante, drums] came out here to my house and we jumped right in in November. Not to jinx anything, but things have been going pretty fast creatively, which normally isn\u2019t the case. We\u2019ve got a ton of material; I\u2019m talking 12 songs now, musically arranged. I\u2019m on my fifth and sixth lyrically, and Charlie sent over ideas for two more songs. He even wrote in an email, \u201cNow the really good stuff is coming.\u201d And I was like, \u201cReally? The shit we have right now is pretty fucking killer.\u201d

\nThis could probably be the first time in this band\u2019s history that we\u2019ll go into the studio with more original material than we need. Normally we have nine or 10 songs then do a bunch of covers, but I can safely say this time, we\u2019ll be recording about 15 of our own songs, if not more, which we\u2019ve never had before.
\n
\nThe vibe has been great. I think we\u2019re all just happy to be doing it because we came off this great run with Worship Music, two years, 207 shows, and people all over the planet really love that record. It just afforded us the opportunity to do what we love to do, so we can\u2019t wait to get back in and start.
\nSo when are you hitting the studio?
\n
\nI\u2019d like to think May, so we can get guitar, drums, bass done before we go to Europe. If we could get that done, live with it for a month, then finish the record in July or August, that\u2019d be the perfect-case scenario, but it depends on if we really feel ready or not.\u201d
\nProducer Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Steel Panther) is once again set to oversee the recording sessions. Ian also discussed his North American \u2018Speaking Words Tour\u2018 (which begins tonight) and his \u201cI\u2019m The Man\u201d autobiography in the interview.
