\nBLACK LABEL SOCIETY led by mainman Zakk Wylde returns in 2013 with a double live album entitled Unblackened. It was recorded at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, and offers diehard fans BLS music from the past to present that essentially strips down their songs. That’s not to stay it is one of those boring all-acoustic albums neither, for it’s still got some goddamn electric shredding no doubt.

\nZakk Wylde’s lead guitar playing is phenomenal all throughout and adds simply gut wrenching vocals on stellar performances for songs such as “Losin\u2019 Your Mind”, “Won\u2019t Find It Here”, and “The Blessed Hellride”. There is also some fantastic electric slide guitar. But I have to say my favorite is Zakk’s out of this world jamming on the track “Throwin’ It All Away”.

\nZakk continues to prove why is he is hands down the best all around guitar player going today. Absolutely blistering fretwork is all he knows and that’s all he delivers here. Are you cool with that? Old and new fans will be floored at just how gutsy Zakk’s peformance is and how he continues to reinvent the BLS sound and make it even more appealing to a wider audience. Bravo, brother. This was a ballsy move but it delivers big time for this reviewer. I dare anyone of any musical persuasion to listen to these songs and not be impressed by the high level of musicianship.
