\nDen Headz, lead guitarist Brent Doerner has decided to leave Canadian hard rockers HELIX.<\/p>\n
Says the band: \u201cAlthough we are sad to hear the news, we wish Brent all the best in his future. Brent is a huge part of the band and will be truly missed by fans from around the world to the Helix family. Brent\u2019s last shows will be September 28th at the Rockpile in Toronto and September 29th in Stratford, Ontario. Thanks for all the music and the lifelong memories you\u2019ve brought to the band Brent\u2026 YOU ROCK!!!\u201d<\/p>\n
Helix singer Brian Vollmer recently issued the following update:<\/p>\n
\u201cFinished off the artwork for the new Christmas single. Once again, it was done by Babyjack Design out of Toronto, and once again they did a great job. The song (single) will be released in a variety of different ways. Fans will be able to purchase a collector\u2019s item green vinyl 7\u2033 record with a red label. Side Two will have the song \u2018Jingle Bells\u2019, which can be heard on the Heavy Mental Christmas CD. Inside the jacket will also be a card with a unique number on it. This allows the purchaser to go to Standard Vinyl\u2019s website and digitally download the song. The record will sell for $19.99 plus S&H. A great Christmas present! For those fans who want to buy the song on CD, it will be a bonus track on Helix: The Best Of 1983-2012, along with another new track \u2018Axe to Grind\u2019. Last, but not least, the song will be available for digital download sales.<\/p>\n
I won\u2019t be announcing the actual name of the song until August, and then fans will still have to wait another four or five weeks to hear it and see the video. All I can tell everyone is that it\u2019s a hockey song-any more hints or clues than that and I think I\u2019d give it away.<\/p>\n
Over the past several weeks Brent has been putting together the video. By next week it will be finished. The song will come out the first week of the 2012-2012 NHL hockey season to radio by DMDS, the digital service that sends the single to the radio stations. At the same time we will be releasing the video on all the social networking sites, with the help of our new publicist Torrie DePapp. Torrie is also helping to work radio and the print media. A great addition to the Helix team.\u201d<\/p>\n
