\nDuring a brand new interview with Greece\u2019s Rock Overdose, SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo revealed that the band is putting the finishing touches on a two-song EP, to be released later this year, possibly in time for their appearance at this summer\u2019s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival . \u201cKerry and Tom are recording it right now; they are doing the vocals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lombardo previously stated about SLAYER\u2019s new material, \u201c[It sounds like] SLAYER. . . Traditional fans will be pacified and non-traditional fans will be like, \u2018Again?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking to U.K.\u2019s Metal Hammer magazine, Kerry described the new SLAYER songs as \u201creally refreshing and energetic.\u201d He added, \u201cOne thing I can tell you is that the songs are shaping up in the classic SLAYER style. You won\u2019t be hearing us doing acoustic stuff. [laughs]\u201d<\/p>\n
Kerry also said that he was hoping that Greg Fidelman, who co-produced 2009\u2032s \u201cWorld Painted Blood\u201d with Rick Rubin, would be at the helm for the new album. \u201cThat\u2019s the idea, anyway,\u201d Kerry told Metal Hammer. \u201cBut it all depends on his availability. . . I don\u2019t think we\u2019ll spend long in the studio this time, either. We\u2019re gonna do it old-school style and get things done fast.\u201d<\/p>\n
SLAYER will perform its classic 1986 album \u201cReign In Blood\u201d in its entirety at All Tomorrow\u2019s Parties\u2019 second U.K. \u201cI\u2019ll Be Your Mirror\u201d event, which is scheduled to take place the weekend of May 25-27 at Alexandra Palace, London, England.<\/p>\n
SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman has been forced to sit the band\u2019s forthcoming tour dates due to complications from a spider bite.<\/p>\n
Hanneman contracted necrotising fasciitis, a flesh-eating disease, from a spider bite over a year ago.<\/p>\n
EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt will fill in for Hanneman on SLAYER\u2019s summer tour, which begins at All Tomorrow\u2019s Parties.<\/p>\n
SLAYER\u2019s latest album, \u201cWorld Painted Blood\u201d, sold 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart.<\/p>\n
