{"id":16436,"date":"2010-10-24T10:17:35","date_gmt":"2010-10-24T15:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/?p=16436"},"modified":"2010-10-24T10:18:49","modified_gmt":"2010-10-24T15:18:49","slug":"motley-crue-rare-1981-live-wire-audience-recording","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/?p=16436","title":{"rendered":"M\u00d6TLEY CR\u00dcE &#8211; Rare 1981 &#8220;Live Wire&#8221; Audience Recording"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i189.photobucket.com\/albums\/z89\/themetalden2007\/Motley4.jpg\" alt=\"tmd\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i66.photobucket.com\/albums\/h259\/rsid999\/tmdcom.jpg\" alt=\"tmd\" \/><br \/>\n<br \/>\nTMD has obtained one of the earliest known live audience recordings of legendary M\u00d6TLEY CR\u00dcE performing &#8220;Live Wire&#8221; at the Whisky A-Go-Go in West Hollywood, California on December 11, 1981.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nM\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce was founded on January 17, 1981 when bass player Nikki Sixx quit the band London and began rehearsing with drummer Tommy Lee and vocalist\/guitarist Greg Leon. Lee had worked before with Greg Leon in Hollywood glam metal act Suite. The three jammed together for some time with Leon ultimately deciding to leave the fold. The bassist and drummer then began a search for new members. Sixx and Lee soon met guitarist Bob \u201cMick Mars\u201d Deal through an ad in \u201cThe Recycler\u201d. Mars was immediately auditioned and then hired to join the lineup. The group was still in dire need of a lead vocalist. Tommy Lee had known Vince Neil from back in their high school years. Upon seeing him perform with the group Rock Candy at the Starwood in Hollywood, Mars suggested M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce hire Vince.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe act\u2019s debut single was \u201cStick to Your Guns\/Toast of the Town,\u201d which they put out on their own label, Leath\u00fcr Records, which had a pressing &amp; distribution deal with Greenworld Distribution in Torrance, CA. It is also known that the single was distributed at concerts they performed at.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nDuring November 1981, their debut album Too Fast for Love was self-produced and released on Leath\u00fcr, selling 20,000 copies. This soon led to interest from Electra records.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a rare glimpse nearly three decades back in time at the Crue rocking it out in their blazing Hollywood club days.
