This extremely rare cut entitled “Glitter” is rumored to be from 1973, but is most likely 1974 based on the time line of the group’s development. It is also rumored that Mark Stone played on the bass guitar at this time… but interviews place Michael Anthony in the band as early as 1972, so it is highly unlikely. Another story claims that when Michael Anthony joined the band, Eddie & Alex Van Halen handed him a tape that included “Glitter”, along with two other songs. This recording features the young and already classic David Lee Roth, though not quite yet the “Diamond” he would ultimately become.
