To have been actually sent a copy
for review by the actual group themselves is quite an honor for me. To clarify things, there’s two SWEET bands that have primarily been in existence since they started in 1968: the U.S. version of The Sweet, founded by original bass player Steve Priest, and the U.K. version of The Sweet, featuring Andy Scott. Priest reorganized again in 2008 to form the new official Sweet with Stuart Smith on guitar/vocals, lead vocalist Joe Retta, Richie Onori on drums, and Stevie Stewart rocking Keyboards. This collection of SWEET tracks truly influenced the likes of MOTLEY CRUE and QUIET RIOT, among countless others. I mean, think about it…. these guys are the pioneers of glam metal, pure and simple.

So raise em up! The Blitz is Back!! The 16 track epic contained here unloads their biggest
and most well known rockers like “Action”, and “Ballroom Blitz”. It was recorded live on August 30th, 2008 by the Westwood One Mobile Recording Unit at the Morongo Casino in California, and it sounds really well mixed coming out of my speakers. Sweet is purely masterful here, playing with a youthful abandon on other notable classics: “Love Is Like Oxygen”, “Fox on the Run”, “Hellraiser”, “Wig Wam Bam”, “Teenage Rampage” as well as the heavier numbers like “Set Me Free”, and “Windy City”, including a brand new song they’ve written entitled “Sweet Dream”, which was penned by bassist Steve Priest. All I can say is that this CD is a must have for any hard rock fan. “Live! In America” is a lesson in timeless, good ole fashioned Rock N Roll music that hits you deep in the soul.

ROCKET REVIEW:
[starreview tpl=16]
SWEET – “Live!
