{"id":101915,"date":"2023-09-07T16:26:48","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T21:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/?p=101915"},"modified":"2023-09-07T16:26:50","modified_gmt":"2023-09-07T21:26:50","slug":"charlie-benante-doesnt-see-anything-wrong-with-pantera-using-backing-tracks-at-concerts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/themetalden.com\/?p=101915","title":{"rendered":"Charlie Benante &#8220;Doesn&#8217;t See Anything Wrong&#8221; With PANTERA Using Backing Tracks At Concerts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>PANTERA<\/strong>&nbsp;fill-in drummer&nbsp;<strong>Charlie Benante<\/strong>&nbsp;says that he doesn&#8217;t see anything wrong with enhancing their show by using backing tracks during their concerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">In recent years, more and more bands have admitted to relying on pre-recorded tracks, drum triggers and other assorted technology that &#8220;makes concerts more synthetic.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The problem is rockers are now using backing tracks for main instrumentation, which many view as wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The sad fact is that pre-recorded tracks are becoming more common \u2014 many rock artists now utilize playback tracks to varying degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">TMD recently shocked the world with a new article this May that has rocked the heavy metal world to its foundation, when <strong>PANTERA<\/strong> fill-in guitarist <strong>Zakk Wylde<\/strong> was busted using a backing track for the <strong>PANTERA<\/strong> song &#8220;Becoming&#8221; during the band&#8217;s first U.S. gig in 22 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Pantera&nbsp;is the latest metal band being accused of using pre-recorded tracks on stage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>TheMetalDen.com\u00a0<\/em>posted a clip from the group&#8217;s May 6th show in Panama City Beach, Florida in which during the song &#8220;Becoming&#8221; \u2014 according to some viewers \u2014 shows guitarist Zakk Wylde\u00a0allegedly performing along to a guitar track by the late-&#8220;Dimebag&#8221; Darrell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My Zakk Wylde &#39;backing tracks&#39; story got posted at Alice Cooper&#39;s radio show site!!<br \/><br \/>IS PANTERA PLAYING ALONG TO BACKING TAPES? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xaYbBG2f1V\">https:\/\/t.co\/xaYbBG2f1V<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uvSZPmoadK\">pic.twitter.com\/uvSZPmoadK<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Randy Rocket Cody (@rocketmetalden) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rocketmetalden\/status\/1657044552224481288?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 12, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>M\u00d6TLEY CR\u00dcE<\/strong> faced similar accusations when recently footage surfaced of singer <strong>Vince Neil<\/strong> lip-syncing at a Crue concert and <strong>Nikki Sixx<\/strong> was busted mime-playing along with prerecorded tracks, as confirmed by the ousted <strong>Mick Mars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Benante<\/strong>&nbsp;addressed some rock acts&#8217; reliance on pre-recorded tracks in a&nbsp;<strong>Cameo<\/strong>&nbsp;video message requested by the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@syncinstanley2332\" target=\"_blank\">Syncin&#8217; Stanley<\/a><strong> YouTube<\/strong>&nbsp;channel. Asked for his opinion on singers who use backing tracks for their lead vocals, the drummer said in part: &#8220;I really don&#8217;t have an opinion about lip syncing or anything like that. I mean, if it&#8217;s a full-on, blown-out lip-syncing thing, like I&#8217;ve seen some pop or rap artists do, then, yeah, I&#8217;m against that, but I don&#8217;t see anything wrong with enhancing the show with whatever, [whether] it be a background vocal or a little help.
