ROCKET REVIEW: THE AUTUMN OFFERING – Self-Titled (CD)

Daytona Beach, Florida’s THE AUTUMN OFFERING return with their fifth studio album to date. The act’s new self-titled collection of songs solidify this maniacal group as one of the best rising metal talents. For those not in the know on their 2010 lineup change, two members have been replaced: guitarist Jesse Nunn of SILENT CIVILIAN and SCUM OF THE EARTH takes over for Matt Johnson, and bassist Carl Bensley (formerly of INSTINCT OF AGGRESSION) replaces Mike Poggione. Vocalist Matt McChesney delivers one of the most punishing vocal performances of the year, sounding somewhere halfway between being possessed by the devil and having your ass lit on fire...

ROCKET REVIEW: INFERNAEON – “Genesis to Nemesis” (CD)

tmd
tmd

Genesis to Nemesis, the new studio album from Florida’s INFERNAEON starts off with an ominous opening synth-piano piece by Keyboardist Dave Stein, which perfectly sets you the listener up for the epic onslaught of heavy metal that you are about to experience. Track two’s purely sinister sounding “First of the Fallen”, with all of its rumblings of discontent, features a wicked as all hell guitar solo and is what really convinced me that I was now on one of the darker musical thrill rides in recent memory. Vocalist Brian Werner’s frightening death rasp is placed over some majestic blackened/death guitar work by Taylor Nordberg and Steven Harger on the most stalwart tracks “Lilith Ave. Satanas” and “Legacy of Kane”...

THE FAMINE – Complete Tracking

tmd
tmd

Texas (USA) death metallers THE FAMINE have completed tracking their new album and Jason Suecof (CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS) is in charge of mixing duties. Discussing the new album details, the band’s drummer Mark Garza comments:

“We are done recording the new record with Braxton Henry and its being mixed by Jason Suecof as I write this. Undoubtedly, this record will be a defining moment and drastic departure from TRATR, with a darker and unnervingly heavier tone and pace of anything we have ever done. Completely unhinged, I believe because of the anger and emotions we went through over the past year. I feel that we accomplished what we set out to do as far as this recording was concerned considering all of the obstacles that were put in front of us.

SYSTEM DIVIDE – Premiere New Song

tmd
tmd

SYSTEM DIVIDE, featuring Aborted’s Sven De Caluwe, entrenched themselves in the scene with their own brand of melody-haunted metal on last year’s EP, ‘The Collapse,’ mixing a wall of dissonance with grit well beyond just a myriad of blast beats.

On ‘Vagaries of Perception,’ the worldwide act (U.S., Belgium and Israel are all represented) takes a step further in their evolution. Milman’s clear voice soars alongside De Caluwe’s gutter growl. It’s serene, yet the tech movements of the song preach destruction. Noisecreep is proud to premiere the song, which is the lead track from ‘The Conscious Sedation.’

Listen to ‘Vagaries of Perception’ on Noisecreep.com HERE.

For the full-length debut, production was handled once again by guitarist Cole Martinez, but the mixing and mastering was bro...

Last Venue DIMEBAG Played In Texas To Be Demolished?

tmd
tmd

TMD has learned that the legendary Fort Worth, Texas venue Ridglea Theater where late great PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist Dimebag Darrell played his final hometown date while in DAMAGEPLAN is to be demolished and made into a bank. TMD has not received final confirmation but according to people closest to the situation… the Ridglea will likely be closing its doors for good by end of 2010.

TMD’s creator Randy “Rocket” Cody adds:

“It’s a damn shame that such a historic heavy metal landmark is falling victim to real estate redevelopment. I raise my horns in respect for all the bands that played that venue and Dimebag Darrell, who made his
final stand in Texas there before some psycho took the most beloved metal guitarist away from those who loved him so much, his family, friends and fa...
