CHRIS CORNELL – Top 10 Reasons He Did Not Kill Himself!

TMD Rocks!

As the world awaits the toxicology report of late SOUNDGARDEN vocalist Chris Cornell, whose death on May 18th was ruled a suicide by hanging, many other questions surrounding the tragic demise of the popular singer remains unanswered. Whether or not foul play is ever revealed in this strange case, TMD proposes the top 10 reasons why the legendary rocker did not take his own life.

1. After the autopsy was completed and a ‘suicide due to hanging’ ruling was made public, Vicky Cornell, his wife, immediately made it known she does not believe Chris killed himself, for he never showed any signs to anyone during his final days that he was depressed. She also posted an open letter to her husband most recently, stating: “I will fight for you.”

2. Chris Cornell’s mother-in-law Toni Karayiannis took to Twitter to share her heartbreak that Cornell died, but also revealed that she and the rest of the family are determined to reveal the truth behind his death soon, stating for the record that they all knew he didn’t intentionally leave them all behind.

3. There was no suicide note.

With as strong of a connection as Chris Cornell had to his family, it is really hard to believe that a man who took his own life did not pen a simple “Goodbye” note to his loved ones before he ended his time on earth. After all, Chris was a magical poet with the way he used words as a songwriter, right?

4. Chris was looking forward to performing his next concert, and jokingly told the crowd at his final gig that they are going to have a tough time beating that night’s crowd in enthusiasm.

5. Ativan is not known to have an adverse ‘suicidal side effect’ on men in Chris Cornell’s age group. It does however seriously affect much younger children, teens and elderly.

It is a nearly white powder almost insoluble in water. Each Ativan (lorazepam) tablet, to be taken orally, contains 0.5 mg, 1 mg, or 2 mg of lorazepam. The inactive ingredients present are lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, and polacriline potassium.

Lorazepam is not recommended for use in depressive neurosis or in psychotic reactions. Because of the lack of sufficient clinical experience, lorazepam is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

IN THE BEGINNING: ‘I Now Pronounce You Husband And Wife…’

As the story goes, Vicky Karayiannis and Chris Cornell married back in 2004. They were wed in Paris, France where Karayiannis is from. Their wedding featured agent Jeff Kwatinetz who acted as Cornell’s Best Man, bringing along his then fiancée, actress Brittany Murphy, to the wedding. Murphy herself died of a mysterious death in 2009.

6. Chris was totally devoted to his life with his wife and kids. Karayiannis, a former publicist, was by all accounts a really big influence on Cornell’s life staying in a positive direction, and he even shared a romantic message via Vicky’s Twitter on this past Mother’s Day to support that, just days before his death. In the post, which featured a bouquet of pink roses, he referred to her as an “angel and a lioness” and even called her:

“The “perfect mother” and “perfect wife”.

The Chris & Vicky Cornell Foundation

7. Chris wanted to keep doing work to help support abused kids. The Chris & Vicky Cornell Foundation was formed in late 2012 with the mission to protect the most vulnerable children. While most of their philanthropic work to date has been private and anonymous, Chris and Vicky formed the Foundation based on their personal experience working in the child protection space. His worldwide acclaimed single “The Promise”, used over the ending credits of the movie of the same name in 2017 was released as a charity single on March 10, 2017, to help benefit the International Rescue Committee. The last two verses of this song connects us with one seriously spiritual human being.

Now my soul
Is stretching through the roots
to memories of you
Back through time and space
to carry home
The faces and the names
And these photographs of you
Rescued from the flames.

And one promise you made
One promise that always remains
No matter the price
A promise to survive
Persevere and thrive
And dare to rise once more
A promise to survive
Persevere and thrive
And fill the world with life
As we’ve always done.

The International Rescue Committee provides opportunities for victims of human trafficking, sexual abuse and survivors of torture, literal thousands of kids alleged to have been raped or killed by way of the ongoing “PedoGate” scandal that has rocked Hollywood and Washington, finally exposed thanks to groundbreaking independent investigative news journalism on YouTube.

8. Chris was raised Catholic… so he indeed had a relationship with God starting very young in life. If we are to believe that this loving husband and father knew of the afterlife, then that alone is enough to assess that he would not ever commit such a terrible sin.

9. Chris said Soundgarden was working on a new album in one of his final interviews. He felt it was a very dynamic production and he seemed really excited to be working on it. Guitarist Kim Thayil stated for the record: “It’s been a couple years of intermittent songwriting sessions,” he said shortly before the start of Soundgarden’s spring tour.

10. One of SOUNDGARDEN’s most classic tunes is “The Day I Tried To Live” off 1994’s Superunknown album. The lyrics speak to the depth of Chris’ deep understanding of his own mortality and the passion behind his belief in wanting to stay alive. Cornell in his own words on “The Day I Tried to Live”:

“It’s about trying to step out of being patterned and closed off and reclusive, which I’ve always had a problem with. It’s about attempting to be normal and just go out and be around other people and hang out. I have a tendency to sometimes be pretty closed off and not see people for long periods of time and not call anyone. It’s actually, in a way, a hopeful song. Especially the lines “One more time around/Might do it”, which is basically saying, ‘I tried today to understand and belong and get along with other people, and I failed, but I’ll probably try again tomorrow.’ A lot of people misinterpreted that song as a suicide-note song. Taking the word “live” too literally. “The Day I Tried to Live” means more like the day I actually tried to open up myself and experience everything that’s going on around me as opposed to blowing it all off and hiding in a cave.”

“The Day I Tried To Live”

I woke the same as any other day
Except a voice was in my head
It said seize the day, pull the trigger, drop the blade
And watch the rolling heads

The day I tried to live
I stole a thousand beggar’s change
And gave it to the rich

The day I tried to win
I dangled from the power lines
And let the martyrs stretch yeah

Singing, one more time around
Might do it
One more time around
Might make it
One more time around
Might do it
One more time around
The day I tried to live

Words would you say
Never seem to live up to the ones inside your head
The lives we make
Never seem to ever get us anywhere but dead

The day I tried to live
I wallowed in the blood and mud with all the other pigs

Singing, one more time around
Might do it
One more time around
Might make it
One more time around
Might do it
One more time around
The day I tried to live, live

I tried

I woke the same as any other day you know
I should have stayed in bed

The day I tried to win
I walled in the blood and mud with all the other pigs
And I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)
I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)
I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)
I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)

Singing one more time around
(Might do it)
One more time around
(Might make it)

One more time around
(Might do it)
One more time around (might make it)
The day I tried to live, live

Just like you
Just like you
One more time around
One more time around
