Never before has the rock world been quite hit so hard by news as it was today when legendary Australian rock band, AC/DC, announced the touring replacement for longtime lead vocalist Brian Johnson. The singer is suffering from serious hearing loss problems and risks totally losing it all for good if he goes out on the road again. Angus and company decided to now risk tarnishing the band’s incredible hard rocking musical legacy by hiring none other than GUNS N’ ROSES vocalist W. Axl Rose to go out on the “Rock or Bust” world tour — including rescheduled U.S. dates. Are you kidding me? This fifty-four year old man is having difficulty even performing at GNR reunion gigs, forced to sit on the same throne that Dave Grohl has used while he was injured and not able to stand on his feet and actually perform for the crowd.
Rose has a broken foot and as far as I know that sort of thing takes time to heal properly with no extra stress on it. AC/DC released a statement claiming they are bound by way of contract to fulfill these “Rock or Bust” tour dates and since Brian can’t do them, Rose “kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment”. Oh, isn’t that sweet of Mr. Attention Whore. You know the guy who is notoriously late to concerts, making fans wait as much as two hours until he decides to grace everyone with his presence. Anyway what kind of respect does that show his fellow musicians Slash and Duff, who are in the midst of celebrating playing on the stage again for the first time in decades and he decides to take on this extra workload? AC/DC’s tour with Axl is set to begin May 7th in Lisbon Portugal.
If Axl manages to luckily survive the run with AC/DC, he will next be obligated to roll his ass out onto the stage for the Guns N’ Roses “Not in This Lifetime” summer stadium tour. My main complaint is not just a general concern for Axl’s well being, because let’s be honest he’s not exactly a healthy young man people! How good of a job will he really be able to do fronting AC/DC? Shouldn’t fans get the best possible show for the money? I can think of many other other singers who could have easily stepped in and be able to do a much better job. Chris Cornell? Robert Plant? Miss Piggy?
Hey AC/DC, why not save yourself the last bit of integrity your band has by either cancelling all the dates and retiring the band or hiring someone that is truly worthy of such an opportunity? I think Axl Rose is not only in the worst shape of his life right now, but he also does not deserve the gig. The only thing we can all do now is wait and see what kind of a train wreck these shows will be. In the end, if you spend a ton of money for a ticket to a AXL/DC show and then are extremely disappointed don’t say I didn’t fucking tell you it would totally suck!
