Den Headz, Philip H. Anselmo recently spoke out about the conversation he had with the heroic police officer who shot-dead Dimebag’s killer.

In an interview, the ex-PANTERA frontman revealed that the murderer had been plotting to kill the entire group, and confirmed the popular theory that the gunman believed the band were stealing his songs.

The shooting took place at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, and was eventually ended after the gunman, Nathan Gale, took four lives and injured seven others. Officer James Niggemeyer took the life of Gale with a single shotgun round to the head.

Anselmo spoke of his conversation with Niggemeyer, along with his ongoing feud with Dime’s brother Vinnie Paul Abbott, to the High Times:

“I asked him the hard question. I said, ‘Tell me, did he purposely shoot just Dimebag?’

“And he said, ‘Yes.’ And I kind of choked up. And I thought for sure I knew what was going to come out of his mouth when I said, ‘Why? Why did he shoot Dimebag?’

“He said they went back to his apartment, this murdering motherf*****, and he had notebook after notebook – stacked notebooks – with writing how he was going to kill Pantera for ripping off his songs.

“Kill Pantera. Pantera. Not once did any of it name any of us specifically. If it did it was all four of us, but it was rare.

“And so I said to this cop, ‘So, then, what you mean is, had it been me playing with Superjoint Ritual or Down that night, this motherf***** would have come after me?’

“And he just said, ‘Absolutely.’ As a matter of fact, he was crying and all he could do was nod his head, ‘Yes’.

“And this poor b****** is scarred as well. Very scarred. Not many of us ever blow a f****** person’s head off after a mass murder.”

And as for his feelings on his long standing feud with Vinnie Paul the vocalist added: “I come with love!”

In related news, earlier this year an army of devoted Pantera fans started a cause on Facebook to reunite the surviving members for a one-off reunion/tribute event in honor of the late great Dimebag Darrell who was killed while performing Dec 8, 2004.
